Hello

I'm not sure if my question is posted in the right place :o .. please correct me...

I'm not a beautician in any sense, and have almost no experience in waxing except for what I've tried myself :o ...

Being quite busy in life, I've chosen an awful but quick waxing solution, and that's the ready for use Veet's waxing stripes...
Now, my problem with these is that they simply breaks the hair itself, and I can see them broken rather than removed from the roots!!
Which simply means the hair grows the next day!! :(
AND... if the hairs are not removed -as usual-, it means I have to re-apply the strip and that causes trauma on my skin :'(

My questions are:
:Look_righ what is the type of waxing you would recommend for someone in my position? What I want is
1) It lasts for long, i.e. removes the hair from the roots...
2) gentle on my skin, if you can recommend a brand by name, I would really appreciate it...

:Look_righ If I want to for different type of strip waxing, is there a certain type of paper strip you would recommend? (do they come in varieties?)

Thanks
HannaH

What is gonna be recommended is a pro waxer. There is a reason why they train. It's not as easy as it looks!
If you are short of time, check out mobiles who will come to your house of an evening.

Its hard for a professional waxer to wax themselves in the right way and using the right wax and equipment.By waxing yourself when you do not know what you are doing and with non professional products at the least you will find it ineffective and at worse end up with a leg full of ingrowing hairs which can often get spotty and infected.
It is also unlikely that you will be able to purchase any of the products we could recommend as they are always for professional use only.
If you must do yourself maybe a top range epilator would be the answer although they can also cause lots of ingrowns.

It's a bit like going onto a dental forum and asking how to do your own fillings.

We are pro's on here so we can't really advise you how to wax. You should go to a pro for the best and safest wax.

I think everyone at some time or another has been in contact with these home made strips and i dont think anyone has ever managed to achieve acceptable results! Those prefabricated strips are just useless if you want to remove the hair effectively and correctly!
Find a therapist in your area and book an appointment and you will see what a difference it makes!!! Definitely worth it! rather than hurting yourself at home!

I agree with the other girls you either need to find a therapist or alternatively invest in a course yourself then you could even do friends and family if you liked it! You never know you might like it enough to become one of us!! lol!

Funniest experience I ever had regarding a waxing strip was an 'emergency' call late one Saturday night from a distraught client who couldn't get an appointment with me earlier in the day. She had decided that she didn't need me and bought some strips from Boots and that she and her husband were perfectly capable of doing it between them. Well she begged me to come over that she had had a terrible accident. Off I went, out of curiosity more than anything as her husband kept wimpering in the background 'is she coming, is she coming'? Well I got there to find 2 of the strips covering her 'lady bits' :eek:where they had decided between them, after a couple of bottles of wine I hasten to add, that it would add a bit of spice to do one of those Brazillian things. When it came to pulling them off she couldn't do it to herself and he chickened out completely! What a mess! I didn't want to pull either as they had been on the best part of an hour and a half by then. So with the help of a lot of oil and a small pair of nail scissors we removed the strips. I did think they might be water soluble but that had not worked either.

She booked her appointments a year in advance from that point on and I have never let her forget the time she thought she didn't need me! :D

Oooh defo see a Pro! It'll probably be cheaper overall, take less time, be more comfortable and you'll get proper advice for aftercare.

Don't guess with hair removal - it's just not worth it!
