I spray this girl reguarly and i sprayed her last friday (2 coats of 12%) as she always has, i get a tx from her tuesday asking if i could respray her as the tan wasn't as dark as previous tans!! what would you do, i am not prepared to respray for free as if there was a problem she should have called the next day, i could have gone to look at tan and then done it.

What would you do?

Carly,
I would say your customer is being a bit unreasonable complaining after so long..
If she has two x 12 coats she really does like to be dark

I suspect the problem here is an expectation thing...as summer rolls on people naturally tan also and we see the darker liquid sales rise....people like to see a complete change
I.E...in winter when were all lilly white the lower % sell as this is significant enough a change from Lilly white.
In the summer the change has to be darker and we see the 10/12% range selling well.

I would put these points to your customer.
Of course you will need to consider good will...now if this is a regular customer and whilst you may not agree with her...well erm...maybe a quick one coat blast won't hurt your bank account to much and you could well retain a VERY happy customer.
Good luck either way though

Geez... 2 coats of 12%, thats dark!!!!!

She is probs just after a free tan!

1st ask her if she done anything dif... Didn't wash moisturiser off, that time of the month, shower directly before hand??

I would quiz her, and tell her you have done loads of 12%'s and she's the only one that has raised an issue!!!

xx

Thanks guys,
i will ask the questions when i go to see her, i know she is obviuosly going to say she did what she was supposed to. i dont mind giving her one coat of 12% as goodwill but i know she is going to want to be darker, she has asked for 3 coats before now?!!! If thats the case i was thinking of charging just £10 as a one off and advise i am doing this as a goodwill gesture but any problems in the future i need to be advised the next day so i can come see the problem and try and fix it..

do you think thats ok?

You have to do what you think is right Carly...sounds fair enough to me though...
But 3 coats of 12%...what is she thinking

She does know that there is a limit to the effect of the tan...a saturation point where you simply wont go any darker than a burned charcoal colour

I always tell my clients if they have any problems once they have washed off their initial guide colour, to ring me the very next day otherwise I cannot put it right for them.

For this lady to be ringing you so long after her tan sounds a little suss to me. This has happened to me only once when the girl I sprayed rang me two weeks later - pah!! told her I couldn't do anything as i couldn't see what the problem was.

As Collin has rightly said there is only so much DHA a body can take and three coats is really excessive - I hope you are charging her more for it!!

Sounds like she is after a freebie. 2 coats of 12% is DARK..3 coats of 12% I would imagine is excessive.

If the client wants 3 coats I would charge her extra but advise there is only so much colour change. Also get her to sign the disclaimer advising this.
