Hello,

I have the same issue.
I recommend regular facial peels to fade out scarring although they can be expensive.
Makeup wise, buy Keromask camouflage makeup, you can by a sample pack for £5 and try it out, saved my face!
Sample pack will last you a long long time because this stuff is highly pigmented so you only need a pin prick amount, lasts all day and comes in several tones for you to blend. Just pat with powder to set.
Sample Kits : Keromask London

Sample Kits : Keromask London

Please don't waste your money on Bare Minerals, It is not strong enough to cover up scars, neither is the concealer - it is powder and gives great results on resonably blemish free skin, not for people like me with dark acne scars and hyperpigmentation.

Great point, I use Veil for camouflage
though x

A really good coverage foundation is clinique continuous coverage if you can get it.
It has limited colours and you need to go lightly with it but it covers everything and doesn't irritate the skin. People never think I have foundation on and I wear it sometimes.
Good luck hun x

BM use to make my skin itch real bad too but I have now switched to JI and I have much better results.

It does look quite powdery when it first goes on but to get rid of that just use a fixing spray. I use MUFE Mist & Fix but I think JI do one too? Once your skin warms the foundation up it looses the powdery look anyway.

Another alternative is Dermablend by Vichy. It's about £15 in Lloyds chemist and is very good camouflage make-up and highly waterproof. Search on YouTube for Lisa Eldridge, she uses it in a tutorial on covering up skin concerns.

Hope you find something that works for you. x

Thank you so much everyone, some great suggestions here and I shall look at all of them. HWilliams, you mention Veil make up, I think I came across their site and bookmarked it as I've also been looking for a camouflage make up for varicose veins I have on my leg (following pregnancy and I'm mortified how awful they look :o ) so this could do both perhaps?
Or the other camouflage make up mentioned here, I'll perhaps order a sample of that too, thank you for the link :)
Right, some research to do now, thank you all very much xx

What is your skincare routine at the moment and what products do you use ?

I used to stock Jane Iredale and still use some of the products and the pressed powder is excellent but it just didn't give me the coverage I needed. I have oily/spot prone skin and have lots of scars on my chin from having acne when I was younger.

I use Laura Mercier liquid foundation with JI pure pressed powder over the top or if Im having a lazy day just the Laura Mercier powder. I think the powder and foundation are about £30 each and you can buy them from Space NK.
I buy quite a lot of Laura M make up now as the service in Space is outstanding, every single time I have gone in for a colour match or even to buy a present for someone else I've come out with a full make over !

Have you been to the doctors about your skin ? Can I ask why you are applying solar oil to the scarring if you are still getting spots ?

My skincare routine is pretty non existent, everything irritates my skin. My skin is incredibly dry too. I just use cleansing wipes and the only exfoliator I have found that doesn't make my face react is soap and glory scrub your nose in it. I have tried many, including expensive ones and this is the only one I've found to not make me worse. I also had a moisturiser made for me by a friend who makes her own stuff and that has tea tree oil in it as well as other oils but can't remember what they are. I've been using the solar oil because it was highly recommended for reducing scarring as well as hydrating my skin because it's so dry.

My skincare routine has always been the same really, I know it should be better but I've never done anything more, even before I suffered with these spots. It's all hormonal so I don't think using lots of expensive lotions and potions will make any difference IMHO. And no, not been to the doctors about it because from speaking to people who have done this, they have been given super strength creams that have harmed their skin more and I obviously want to avoid this. It's the scarring that I want to hide, the spots are just going to continue for as long as I suffer with Endo I guess.....

I believe that cleansing wipes contains alcohol, if yes then stop using them.

If ever I use a cleansing wipe and then decide to not be lazy and cleanse tone etc. the dirt that comes off after. Cleansing wipes don't clean properly. Ideal for emergencies. I would go to the doctors as they can prescribe a tablet that clears up skin if bad. I know a few people who take this and they have lovely skin. I know some people don't like taking tablets even a pparacetemol so not sure if that's for you. I suppose it all depends how fed up it makes you feel. Personally I don't have prob with taking tablets. Hope you sort it planky. It's rubbish all the hormonal rubbish us women put up with :-( x

Hi Planky
I couldn't read and run just wanted add my little snippet.
I'm not a skin geek so can't give any help in that direction but I do feel that the stress you are under will not be helping :( believe me I need to take my own advice I get terrible eczema on my eyelids when I get stressed, I look like I've been thumped at times.
So as hard as it might be try to take yourself out of the stress just for a few minutes a day. It doesn't have to cost anything. Something as simple as if its a nice day pack your lunch up and have it as a picnic I love to do this but I'm sure you have your own favourite things.
I do hope you get sorted
Big hugs
Vicki x

Hi
Do you not mean Bio oil which is great to heal all types of scarring?
Solar Oil is a nail and cuticle treatment and I would think would clog the delicate skin on your face!

I would defo recommend Vichy dermablend for coverage and not looking masky. Boots sell it so you could get it if you collect the points.

Youngblood minerals seem to give good coverage but I think you'd be better trying a specialist camouflage product.
Also try cover fx.
Thanks x

Planky my skin has been terrible all my lufe on and off, even more so since i had treatment for cancer, my doctor has put me on lymecycline and you can be on this long term and has great results. I am a constant picker ad squeezer and i know I shouldn't. Get and appointment and ask your doctor about it.

Solar oil was around before Bio oil, Bio oil was a spin off product that AFAIK is not as pure as solar oil and doesn't work as well. Solar oil has actually been around since the 70's I believe. Solar oil is not just a product for nails and cuticles, it is used for many things including the treatment of skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema and for healing burns, as the ingredients used in the oil are extremely beneficial. Many geeks on here use solar oil as a moisturiser as you can't get much better tbh. So clogging pores I don't think is an issue by using this :wink2:
Cleansing wipes I use are just simple or similar, so no alcohol.

Not keen on medication route but might consider it. Think camouflage make up and a mineral make up that's good for the skin will be the way to go.

Really appreciate everyones help and advice, finally feel like I may be able to hide my scars!!

Yep, pretty sure all the stress isn't helping, sadly more of it at the moment too and not so easy to get away from it but I will try. Hopefully if the nice weather returns soon that will help!! :wink2: xx

Hiya!

Try not too use facial wipes as these contain alcohol and will strip the skin of natural oils leaving the skin very dry and irritable! Try and get a 2in1 if you haven't got a lot of time. Decleor cleansing water is great- will strengthen the skin and it leaves a protective layer on the skin.

If you do exfoliate regularly I would recommend a peel rather than a scrub as it can be harsh and would leave blemishes angry and red. Decleor phytopeel contains green clay Which is purifying and brightening, also contains lavender and thyme which are healing and antibacterial.

As for your moisturiser I would wear a lotion rather than a cream.

Someone has mentioned above about Prolegene gel- mix this with your moisturiser. This product is brilliant!!! It's good for tightening the pores, it's contains osmathus which is very healing and great for scar tissue! You can also use for burns, bites, stings, pregnancy from day 1, sun damage and sagging skin!! (one for the first aid box!)

As for makeup, I really wouldn't put too much on the skin if you can help it, well at least until you find something that works for you.

Feel free to message me for any more advice if you need. Hope this helps xxxx

Jane iredale is great, BUT, the coverage is very sheer. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking to cover up blemishes and scars. I agree, with using loose mineral powder. I've found inika is great (I'm sure it's available in the UK). It doesn't look caked on at all. My skin improved loads when I used to use inika. On a couple of occasions I didn't take the make up before bed (I know, I know), and my skin seemed to be even better for it.
Hope you find a solution.

Hi,
my face is exactly the same as your with scars hate leaving house without any coverage they are so noticeable I tried everything ..tablets/ facials / derambrations/creams/oils/sun beds EVERYTHING and yet my face is still the same! Lol I have found that over the years my only help was make up!I was told MaC was good for coverage so I booked in to get consultation in Harvey nics and never looked back! What a difference I use there primer first then concelear on the really bright purple red scars this takes the colour out them then using a brush I lightly cover my face with a thin layer of foundation and then a dusting on mineral powder all over, what a difference it has made,at night when I take it all off I cover my face in sudo cream and it helps my skin,
Hope something in this helps!x

Buy the bare minerals from Qvc. You get to try it for 30 days, if it doesn't work for you just send it back for a full refund less p&p. :)

Just another thought.
The scarring will have left indentations. A primer will help even out/fill these in.

Yes I'd heard about sudocreme too, have used it a couple of times when my spots have first come out and are very red and angry and it definitely made a difference so must remember about this as I had forgotten. Have also heard that Mac make up is good and Laura Mercier but having also been told that benefit make up was amazing and so spending out loads on it to discover that it was actually awful and one of the worst I've tried, I'm worried about this being the case again.

Never thought or knew about primer, what brand would you recommend and will this not clog my skin up even more?
