i'm actually very embarrassed to post this as it may make me seem very foolish but a while ago i paid for a "specialist" intimate waxing course... i've been waxing for years but i always like to add to my skills etc anyhoo, i've been using "just wax" lavender hot wax and really feel as though i'm getting nowhere... my tutor at the time even said she "preferred" to use strip wax for intimate waxing as it was quicker and therefore caused less pain to clients... i always use hot wax for hollywoods and brazilians (even although i think i could do it quicker with strip wax) and i've never had any complaints... but can someone (informed enough to do so) please explain to me why i should use hot wax over strip wax as the only reason i was given by my tutor was "some people think its kinder on the skin" and "it's hotter so the hair follicles open up more"

To keep it simple. All strip wax (regardless of brand) will remove some skin. It's such a small amount that we can't see it and is not a problem. However, when you have to go over an area several times to get the hair out, it will remove more skin with each pull. That's when clients end up torn and red raw. Many think they've been burnt but they haven't.

The hot wax that I use only sticks to hair and NOT the skin, so there is no discomfort at all immediately afterwards.

I'm teaching in Edinburgh in July so contact me if you'd like some info.

For what it's worth, I think that strip wax should be banned on Intimate waxing as in inexperienced hands, it can cause major pain and suffering. xxx

I don't find hot wax any slower. I only use hot wax on a bikini and depending on how much they want removed, it can take me between 5 and 15 mins for a standard bikini so.
Hot wax is applied at just above body temperature so it's not hotter than strip wax really.
Once you get use to using it then you pick your speed up and it takes around the same time.
Every client i've used it on that has had strip wax before, have all commented on how less painful it is and now they wouldn't have anything else. :D
