Ok, I really need some help here as to if I am getting it right or wrong but is just taking time.............enough I hear you cry stop waffling woman!

I have had my website for a few months now and I call it my 'work in progress', always jigging it about, now I know that I am getting lots of hits from google so why am I not hearing from these people? Is the first page not exciting enough?

I want to be more of a facialist (microderm and skin peels) and holistic therapist and I think I am pretty well priced considering I have no overheads per se, so how do get it across that I am fantastically experienced and they will have a wonderful experience, the products are professional and give excellent results - I use them myself and I look 16 again (ok maybe not 16 )

ugh what do I do - please be gentle with comments as I will cry! Plus sorry to bug you wonderful chaps bout this but................oh yeah its www.beautybyvanda.co.uk

At a glance, I can't see anything wrong, but I don't necessarily have a trained eye. I can recommend a web designer if you would like a no obligation chat LOL.

However, I am wondering what else you do to advertise yourself? Are you on yell.com? Do you have an enhanced listing?

Hiya :)

I think the overall look of your site is lovely and calming. I would say though that (to me) the wording on the 1st page is a bit professional sounding. Ny that, I mean I didn't know what Microdermabrasion was, and a facial peel sounds even less appealing. I have been reading up on this sort of stuff, and clients don't wake up in the morning, jump out of bed and think "ohh, do you know what/ I'm going to go and pay to have all my top layer of facial skin peeled off today!"

Do you get what I mean? What I'm trying to say is, try to word it with more emotion. Why do people have micro-whateveritis? Why would they have a facial peel? Give them the benefits of what they will FEEL like once they have had these treatments on your home page something like - "Imagine what your friends will say once you have completed a course of one of our fabulous treatments! You will look and feel ten years younger!", then you can go into more detail on the treatments menu page.

I'm hoping I'm giving you constructive criticism as that is what it is meant to be, please don't cry!

Also, as ZoZo said, are you advertising anywhere else?

I hope this helps you

Sarah. xx

Hi Sarah

Thank you for your constructive comments - thats it you are right it could be the wording to get potential peeps to go further if it don't mean much and tapping into the after effects are the reason they would come to me.

I will attempt to find the right way to say it this weekend and see how it goes.

Do you know what - I was brave I didn't cry

have a nice weekend!

Hiya fellow geeks,

I had the same problem for ages.

Wasn't sure how to fix it.

My brother does marketing and he said try giving something away to get people to call.

So i did - and it worked!

I've been gettin' a bunch of calls since.

You could try it.

I think that your site is good. There are a few little oops to fix, but it is a good site. As for the 'professional' wording...you are a professional are you not? What about client testimonials? A trial offer might help to entice new clients or repeat clients to try new services. I really like the site, it is soothing to look at and read. Hang in there it will happen!

Have you ever done any networking? Have a look at these:-

Ladies Network - Home

Women on Top - Norwich Branch

BNI might also be worth a look. Not necessarily to join, but you can go along twice as a guest.

Also, going back to the idea of leaflet dropping, you only need one or two good quality calls to get the ball rolling. Once you have the client in your room, you can impress them, re-book them and get them to tell their friends about you!

I just had a quick look and i think it looks lovely. I like that you sound professional personally i think there is nothing more off putting than opening a website that seems amature. You have more than enough information and diagrams to explain treatments that clients may not initially understand but will have most definately already heard about.

Perhaps your adds are attracting the wrong sort of clientele, by that i mean young people who wouldnt need peels etc. Just a thought x x

Hi there - I think it is certainly good enough but I know what you mean when you feel it is not quite right somehow. I ended up doing my own website as I had particular ideas - please take a look. My only comments would be is that the header has the same colour as the background and I feel it does not quite gel. You certainly sound professional and the about you section is great as it sounds like you wrote it straight from the heart so to speak. I would play with colours abit and perhaps think about the flow of the homepage.

I didn't mean for Vanda to not sound professional, she is a professional and that does show in her site. I was just trying to tell it in the way that a prospective client may view the site. They can always delve deeper if they want to then, once their interest has been gained initially on the home page.

For instance people may not know what microdermabrasion is: "Microdermabrasion is mechanical exfoliation that removes the uppermost layer of dead skin cells from the face, chest and hands". I didn't know exactly what it was or why I would need it.

Skin peel sounds awful (I know that is the term used) but instead could say "Have you always wanted brighter looking skin? Well now you can! Click here for a more detailed introduction" or something along those lines.

Just because it's not worded in a "professional" way, won't put a client off and certainly doesn't make the therapist sound unprofessional. She's just appealing to those who wouldn't know what a treatment like this is, or what it can do for them.

It was just a suggestion
