This is the most bizarre thing.........
and has happened perhaps about 2 or 3 times in my "nail career", but does anyone know the answer to this riddle?

I do a full prep, no different than any other.
Apply the new set, or rebalance.... cure, wipe, blah blah.
Then I start finish filing....... before glossing...

and whoops
New lift is appearing as I file?????:irked:
What the heck is up with that?

The product isn't touching skin, so I don't get it??????

Has this happened to anyone and does anyone know where I went wrong?
Happened again 2 days ago, first time in well over a year.
I had to practically start my rebalance all over again:grr:

I just thank my lucky stars it happened to a long standing regular (3years) who was as confused as I was since she's very familiar with the procedure and couldn't think of anything I'd forgotten. And she NEVER NEVER NEVER gets lift.

Has she had any significant metabolic changes, like pregnancy or an unknown autoimmune disorder? The only time in 20 years I've seen something like this is when there was a HUGE change in body chemistry. In my client's case, (she didn't know yet) she was preggers. Happily, I might add, they had been trying.

Other than that 1 isolated experience, no ideas...sorry ::(:

Nope, nothing like that.
And after I've corrected it, and fixed the "new lift", it doesn't happen again.
So, there's no rhyme or reason that I can find?

really wacky!

maybe they are being affected by your stress levels:lol: Just one more thing to add to the mix....

Distinctly possible:lol:

Did you check your light bulbs?
They should be replaced every 6 month to insure proper cure.

My bulbs are brand spanking new, since less than a week ago.
I have been rattling my brain about this.
As I said, has only happened 2-3 times in my 3 years (or is it 4 now?) of doing UV Gel.
And I 'thought' about the bulbs the last time it happened and it wasn't the case then either.

What a bizarre thing to happen:grr:

*De lurks* Hi, I'm pretty sure there was a thread on this recently, but when using acrylic, and one of the answers was not "patting" the product down firmly enough when you apply it (if you know what I mean by that?!). I don't use gel, I've never trained in it so I dont know but thought you might be interested. *Re lurks*
(Enough rambling from me I'll go back to lurking now!)

Could it be that you're applying a bit too much pressure when filing?
That can cause lifting to appear.

This has happened to me about 3 times as well, and I have found when you over file or file with to much pressure it lifts. Hope this helps.

I had this problem and for me it is the pressure. Also the grit I was using. Plus applied to thin.. once in awhile it happens to me. I find that sometimes appying the product again that it lifts.

Im glad you put this thread on as this has happened to me about three times!! One lady had been coming for about 6 months and everything ok then lifting started :irked: as id done the nails and started filing there was lift at the botttom. And once on a friend of mine that I wanted to do a really good job on....when I filed there was absolutely so much lift by the time id finished I felt like id done a full set and a re-balance at the same time  It was very disheartening as I did nothing that I hadn't done before xx
Its not happened recently touch wood butI put it down to working a bit wet and not pressing down on product enough to secure the seams down so to speak.
Hey Ho these things happen to the best of us I suppose xxxx

Love n Light Jo x

Hey VHunter, i know what you mean with this when it happens, you just can't fathom why it is happening.

I have the same thing with a client but only on her thumb! I prep all nails the same, i do the same routine on them all, but her thumb can lift within a few hours??? It only happens periodically, and all the other nails never get lift, so it's a real mystery to me too!

Sorry not been any help here Victoria, but the only thing i would say to try is make sure you work the gel into the nail before you put the builder gel on, (if you do a thin layer at first?) then i find it doesn't happen. Don't know why?

It has happened to me too and I found it happened because the client didn't put the hands in the lamp, just had her fingers at the "entrance"... huh, did that make sense? :-D

C.

This happened to me once when (i think) my liquid bond hadn't properly dried before applying the first layer of gel.

Hmmm maybe that's it? Maybe the liquid bonder didn't dry enough?
I used the ones my rep/dist'r sent me, instead of the ones I usually get. And hers suck up the liquid bonder like crazy, and are super wet... (I don't like them, wastes too much bonder).

MAYBE that's it?

Thanks everyone for your feedback!!!!

Glad to know I'm not nuts

Well I have a theory here which I believe has applied when this has happened to me a couple of times and it is simply this: my client had swiftly and sneakily rubbed the nails around the cuticle area with her thumb, :smack: unintentionally contaminating the area with oils etc from her skin and stopping the gel from adhering properly.

I watch them like hawks now but STILL they do it sometimes. Honestly, you can't look away for a second.

But this accounts for why it's only occasionally, during which time all your other sets are just fine. hth x
