How does everyone iron do you do the back of a shirt first or the collar and sleeves.Do you use a water spray or have you got one of those super dooper steam irons. If you have do they really make short work of shirts.

Do you take turns doing a load or you do one he does one.iI like to watch Jeremy Kyle when i do it.It kind of goes hand in hand really. All that boredom with all that excitement.

I like to stand in the kitchen diner with my radio on singing away while ironing lol
I love ironing and iron everything except underwear & socks.:green:

we wait till the basket is overflowing then decide who is doing it from who did it last time.......THIS time its his turn and the basket IS full...... i even thinks its A very BORING just watching Rob do it....so i make him go in the kitchen....funny THREAD.

The only bit that makes it a bit more exciting is waiting for the kids to walk past and then squirting them with the water spray...PMSL

I hate ironing :mad: its the worst job i have to do only wish hubby could do that one for me:green:

I start with the collar, then the sleeves, followed by the front and finally the back.
I luv ironing I find it therapeutic and soothing and time for me to reflect on things :):)

I have a super dooper iron!

Stu taught me to iron shirts when he was in the marines...

Reverse side of collar
Arms
Body

Use the same order no matter what type of iron you use.

I hated ironing before I got my steam generator - Now I love ironing - So quick! I know I'm sad

I used to watch the way my dad ironed his shirts the way he did in the RAF, crisp razor sharp crease down the sleeves and smooth collar ,it sort of stuck really and my husband loves it when i press his shirts that way.

I start with the collar, then do the front then the back and finally the sleeves then iron the cuffs flat(with a damp cloth). I'm not a lover of ironing but i do find it therapeutic and time to reflect on things.

I put all hubbys shirts in a big bag with some hangers and take them to my mum :smack:

Ironing doesnt have to be boring though there are all sorts of things you can do while doing it.You can exercise ie squats between items and bicep curls with your iron, mind your ears though.
You can do it nude in the garden and get a tan at the same time.
You can put on a language tape and use the time to learn.

Angie how can you find it boring

I don't iron. Well, maybe a few t-shirts in a year, but I mean a few - maybe 10 ond only if I really can't get away with wearing them as they are. I make sure when I buy clothes that they wont need ironed. If I'm not sure, I'll take a grab of a handful of the material, squish it for a few seconds and if it is crumples I just don't buy it. I HATE ironing.

With my super dooper iron it's collar, shoulders, sleeves (definitely no crease), back and lastly front.

As Gillian suggests you can do all sorts of things whilst ironing - a gin and tonic next to the ironing board whilst listening to music or watching cricket on TV - or get outside and get naked in the sun! :)

In 2003, extreme ironing is the world's newest adrenalin sport, combining the thrill of extreme outdoor activity - rock climbing, mountaineering, canoeing, scuba diving or surfing - with the satisfaction of well-pressed clothing.

Participants of the sport are known as ironists and pride themselves on returning to work on Monday morning in a shirt which was ironed at the weekend whilst dangling from a rock face or riding the rapids.

From its humble beginnings in the English East Midlands city of Leicester in 1997, the sport has gone global, with the first Extreme Ironing World Championships being held in Munich 2002.

Since then even more people have taken ironing outside, under the sky, where it belongs. Written by the sport's founding father, this book, illustrated throughout with photographs, is a guide to equipment and clothing; a description of the different styles of extreme ironing; and an overview of worldwide developments.

only if I can bring that lady that comes to our house once a week with me :lol::lol:

Funny though..there is something ,for me anyways, special about having a crisp white shirt fresh and ironed....by someone else.

I do think this probably goes back to my childhood.

My mother being disabled was never able to do this for all us kids so from a very early age we learned to do most domestic tasks.

Whilst at the time it didnt seem fair as the other kids were all having fun when we were doing the domestics around the house.

I do recon however that those childhood experiances of having to do things for yourself have stood me in good stead for my adult life.

Today I dont think there are many young folk that even know what an iron is

Dont you just love the smell of fresh ironing
