Hi all,

Just wondering whether it is ok to trim brow hairs. I have an older client who has her brows waxed with me, but I'm never entirely happy with the end result. I brush them into shape but they tend to overhang as the individual hairs are really long. It just seems to spoil the result for me. (think Dennis Healy lol !!)
She's never said anything but I'm just thinking about trimming them when she comes next week.

Any advice is gratefully appreciated!!

Thanks ladies

Jayne xx

If it is just the odd hair that is long then I tend to pluck them out if however there is a group of them then I would trim them.
I even have a client who I perm her eyebrows flat the results are great and last for a good 6 weeks:hug:

hi ya,
i trim eyebrow hairs if there really long but dont get carried away and trim them really short, its normally just one or two hairs which are really long and if there trimed they make loads of difference,
x:)

Hi hun, this is fine. But i would talk her through what u suggest first and see how she feels and just explain how much different they will look and will lay down better giving her a lovely over all shape.
If you brush them with your eyebrow comb in the oposite direction to growth, this will stand the hairs up so u can trim them to the desired length obviously taking care not to get to siss happy lol.

Thanks for the replies ladies,

I'll ask her if she wants to try it next week - I think it'd look so much better, just gotta persuade her now!

Thanks again,

Jayne xx

I wouldn't ask her i'd just trim them and show her the result.

People who come for a brow wax want a nice tidy brow afterwards if we need to trim to ensure this is the case then i see it as being part of the treatment not an add on.

It's like including the toes during a leg wax it's part of the treatment, clients want tidy results so do what you've got to do to achieve this x

Whenever I've had my eyebrows threaded the girlies have always cut the hair. It makes for a very defined look, which I love!

Yes , trim them and don't ask her. If she knew how to do the perfect brow, she wouldn't be paying you to do them.

If you're worried about cutting too much off, brush them downwards rather than upwards. Tweeze out any hairs that grow outwards and white ones as they're no good to man nor beast. xxx

Thanks guys,

I'm going to take the bull by the horns and just do it without asking her - I'm sure she'll prefer the finished look, plus she'll be able to see properly aswell!!! lol . I'll let you know how it goes!

Ta, Jayne xx

My therapist (Sharon) always trims my eyebrows when she waxes/plucks them for me; my eyebrow hairs are otherwise quite wild and would end up looking like Spock from Star Trek lol...

hey!!
You should definatley trim it makes such a differance and makes the whole thing look much neater!! dont ask just do it!! x:)

Just be carefull if u not explain what u gonna do and why, as i did this once and my lady lifted her head up that quick as wondered what i was doing i nearly took her eye out. A bit like nasal waxing (lesson learnt with one of my male clients) did not explain in detail what i was going to do and he thought he was gonna die and the wax was gonna run down his nose into his throat and stop him breathing. Yeah i no, just some people need talking through just to be on the safe side and especially as when u have not done them in the past she might have the same reaction, always better to be safer than sorry so to speak lolx

If needed I trim but I always tell the client that I'm going to even out the hair length, so I don't ask, but I do inform.:)

Update...

I had my lady in and I trimmed the long stragglers after I'd waxed and the difference was amazing! She was really pleased with them - phew!!
I told her what i was doing and she was fine with it - I feel a lot more confident in myself now - hoorah!!

Thanks again for all the advice ladies

Jayne xx

Well done hun
Trimming can really make a huge difference to the overall look and well worth doing.

well done

I have a couple of clients who stopped going somewhere because they hate having the few stray hairs trimmed. So i always ask and if there is just a couple then I pull them out. There is nothing worse than stubbly eyebrows.

what i do is i pluck them till they are shaped the way i want then i brush them upwards and whatever excess bits i just trim them along the shape. doing tht tells you exactly how much need to trim. it works well for me and u cant tell they have been trimmed but u prevent that odd look when one hair accidently goes up or strays down...very embarrasing!

and i dont kno what to say about whether you should ask your customers or not, im not an expert  but i would think the safest option is to ask but explain why you are doing it and how it will enhance the look. i would be kind of shocked if someone just says would u like me to trim ur eyebrows  lol...
