Helloooooo everybody :)

Just one question, is this video (by the fantastic Mr. Nailzoo :)) what is meant by reverse application?

YouTube - French Tip Application

Many thanks

Hi!

No this is not reverse application. Reverse app is when you do the nailbed first and then do your tip/sculpt (I do sculpt) Reverse is awesome for when you have a biter and need to extend the nailbed (pink).

Hey Eni :)

Thanks for the speedy reply! And also thanks for the clarification :)

So if I was to custom blend a nail, I would start at zone 3, going into zone 2. Then I would place my bead of colour choice onto the form and do that next, making my smile line as I would if I was sculpting zone 1 first?

How would I do this without making it too bulky at the smile line? Or am I getting totally the wrong end of the stick

Thanks again

My, what a big brush he has! I feel all inadequate.

Not strictly a reverse application - as white tips have been used and as I understand it, you should sculpt the tip. Reverse IS starting from the cuticle and working to the tip though so maybe the point could be argued.....

Reverse application is not what Carl (top nail tech btw) is doing on his video.

have a look at this Young Nail Vid - this imo is true reverse application, where you do zone 3, then zone 2 and swipe in your smile, then apply zone 3...

OOoh didn't you know what a big one Carls's is? It makes your eyes water just looking at it!
My Ultra Sculptor is big enough for me & Carls brush makes it look puny!

I can feel a "size doesn't matter" comment coming on.

It's not the size it's what you do with it that counts, etc.....

PMSL!

I'm sure Carl would disagree - why else would he have such a big one ?

He does work very well with it and I've seen lots of peeps comment on how big his brush is (is that what we are calling it now?! lol!)

He's got a big one AND he knows what to do with it - the guy's set up for life!

I may be going slightly off topic but praise where praise is due.

Thanks for that Bev! That's kinda how I envisioned it but wasn't sure how to execute it :). It'll sure help with the glitters as I'd imagine this way you're less likely to get glitter in zones 2 & 3.

Better get practising!!! (calls very good and long suffering beauty guinea pig friend Renee)

I have a very experienced nail tech friend who recently went on an extended stay in America, whilst her husband was working out there. By way of amusement and curiosity, she visited a few of their nail salons and was stunned at the size of their brushes. She said they were huge by our standards!

They obviously work for them and it's a case of what you're used to, but I find it difficult to imagine doing a tiny little pinkie with one of these wallpaper pasting proportion tools <by our standards>. Would anyone from the other side of the pond care to comment on this? :)

i am still getting used to the ultra sculptor that i have , but even though it is a big brush you can actually pick up some tiny beads with it as it goes really pointed if you need it too. An ultra sculptor is a size 10 brush but i hac=ve seen some other pretty huge ones they look like paint brushes lol!!
When doing reverse i tend to do zone 2 then 3 (the same way you would normally with out zone 1) then do zone 1. i get much crisper smile lines with glitter doing it this way, there are a few pics in my album.
