I know that the Jessica range is all about natural nails but i was a little miffed to see a poster by them in a local salon showing different types of nail conditions...1 being "after acrylics" and then a list of damage to nails after acrylics and what treatment to reccomend....then i find that they actually do a nail repair kit thats called Jessica After Acrylic Nail Kit...!! :(

What do we think of this....?

I personally feel that its wrong to suggest that all nails are in need of this kit due to having acrylics...or that having acrylics does that to you nails....we all know that its not the product that causes the damage...

Wonder what would happen if Jessica start doing their own L&P range......

here it is...

Unbelievable !!!!

As if we don't have enough to contend with:irked::irked::irked:

That is such crap! I can't believe a "reputable" company would feed all the tired l&p myths! I won't use any product whose company would disrespect our industry that way.

ive seen that too.

what they really should put is ' AFTER [biting] ACRYLICS [off, instead of spending a few pounds on professional removal]':irked:

It gets boring doesnt it? When people say they had enhancements off and it 'damaged' their nails. I always ask, 'did you pick them off?' Guess what the answer is?

I've never seen this Jessica kit, but there is a special base coat for 'post acrylic or damaged nails.' I guess if people believe the hype, they will buy the products!

That's a shame I thought Jessica was a reptable company?

As angel fingers said maybe it should be re-named to "Kit to apply to nails removed by yourself" Damaged nails is one thing but "after acrylic" just feeds the myth.

You know what? I doubt it even works! I can't imagine this stuff repairing damage caused by self-removal of nail enhancements. It peeves me off, the stuff that big companies are allowed to feed consumers.

The pictures on the poster got me...it shows a damaged nail under the "After Acrylics" bit....like all nails look like that after acrylics....its so frustrating.

They also had pics for dry nails, thin nails, ridged nails....and of course the kits for each problem type....but the "After Acrylics" one is just plain wrong !!

I think it has to born in mind that the reason this product is on the market & sells is precisely because there is a need for it. Agreed that much of the damage comes from poor practice, but there are a significant number of people, who for whatever reason, end up with wafer thin nails after years of having acrylics, and they seek out a product to rectify it. I have had many client's who have used the product after having had problems post-acrylic nails, and have found it helped immensely.

Out of interest, the wording on the packaging & training manual is "can cause" not "does cause".

You have got it so right! maybe you should pitch that to them as a re-brand

Unfortunately, they are responding to consumer need! They are a very reputable Company and so many consumers believe that there is a need for 'after acrylics'.

There is nothing wrong with being commercial! I come across sooo many people that believe the 'after acrylics' is a condition that needs addressing! It is up to the industry to change this belief.

Don't blame a company for cashing in on the industry's short comings! Customer education for the best of applications is still key!!

I've seen a few companies offering an "after acrylics" type ranges.
Mavala do a fantastic range tbh.
I guess they can't call them "After you've bitten off and trashed your nailplates"
But I guess it sortof means that really.

How can the industry change this believe when you have people within the industry doing stuff like this....Yes customer education is the key but its like fighting a losing battle when companies within our industry are more concerned with "cashing in" than supporting us and proving thats profits come before morals !!

I am a Gel girl...is it ok for me to cash in then and tell people that its kinder to your nails and allows them to breath..?

I totally agree! As Martin explains.. we all know the reasons products like this are required..

NSS :irked:
Bad Qualified Nail Techs (Not Pro`s)
"I`m just doing this a "hobby" people"

Our industry needs protecting more from the above mentioned & perhaps other issues I cant think of right now!

I have just started 2 days a week in a salon & I can not believe the state of some clients nails that have had the above experiences!!

I am sick to death of NSS (dont think I need to mention my local ones)
& the crap they are putting on clients nails & in their heads - when they can be assed to remove the masks from their faces to speak !!

Anyway thats my rant of the evening (had a busy week)

You named that tune in one mate:lol:
Damaged nails....not as much market for that is there??
It is down to people having no idea of the damage they do themselves...but there is money to be made.....and business is business I guess x
If it was me I would have to be honest and if it was MY business (I'm talking big ££££ business) I would see a market for it.
And do it.
I should be on the Apprentice :lol::lol:

Yeah, or they think they can be grown off!! Hopefully all of OUR clients are well educated as to the REAL reasons for nail damage,x
