Is it within my rights to email the company who did me design to ask for it back?

Absolutely! I keep everything I've ever designed on file (and god knows it cost me enough to recover it all after a recent hard-disc failiure).

However, if they're a larger company, dont hold your breath. They're not legally required to keep it on file once they pass it over to you- at which point it becomes your responsibility. As I say though- I keep everything on file- in case people want to tweak things, or simply if they lose it.

And is it easy to modify?

If you have just the normal Microsoft Suite of products- then probably not. You'd have to have specialist software (and the knowledge to use it!)- and that's assuming they send it to you in an editable format.

Thank you both.

All I want is my same leaflet, but the special offer to be changed. I don't think they emailed me a copy of the flyer, just one with PROOF in big writing over it. Would it be cheaper to have someone design me a new one and maybe some new business cards etc so from now on I can use one of these online companies (which are around 1/3 of what I pay just now) and where would I find this person? Thanks again sorry for the a million questions xxx

Carl at verve has designed my logos, leaflets for printing at vista and this morning saved me from a disaster by designing me some last minute pricelists they are really beautiful designs and the prices are fantastic give the website a look www.verveprint.co.uk

Hiya - if you have a copy of your printed leaflet then any designer with half an ounce of skill will be able to reproduce it (assuming you don't have any complicated graphical elements to it) but then as you are paying again anyway you might as well get a new one done.

I have been doing graphics and print as part of my job for the last 10 years or so... with some agencies you have to fight for the original files but most are ok sending them to you. It's best to request the 'native' files (which will probably be an Adobe format - Illustrator, InDesign, etc) but PDF is an ok starting point. Hope that helps!

BTW printing.com have monthly special offers which are worth checking out for larger quantities of print. For smaller quantities this isn't viable because the bulk of the cost is in the setup of the print machinery - won't get too geeky unless you want me to ;-)

I've got more than half an ounce of skill but just not in the computer area ;)lol

Carl at verve is excellent!!!!! very patient and nothing is too much trouble for him and he understands my technical terms eg a midgeys widgey as i'm sure your all familiar with. check out his web site
