I have a client that seems to leave it quite a while before having her refills done, she told me its because she wants value for money.
When she does come in, her nails are nearly grown out to the free edge and some lift or have come off etc. Its basically a nightmare and uses more acrylic than a normal refill would.

I cannot blame her for wanting value for money but i feel that the amount of acrylic id use would be near the same for a full set.
I feel like i should charge her extra and i know some salons do if you are over 3 weeks between visits.

How do i approach her about this? Or am i just being pathetic?

You are not being pathetic.

You are giving her the ability to take the P*** out of you by not charging her for a new full set if her nails are nearly grown out.

I have a 2 week price, a 3 week price and after 4 weeks it is a full set price.

I would tell her that this is standard practise and that you charge for your time. Her nails take more time because of how she returns to you so late. More time = more for her to pay.

This whole 'Value for money' and making it last as long as possible lark makes me laugh. I just wonder how much personal satisfaction these people get from walking around with a set that's way past its best and looking tatty? All they're fit for is a soak off and to start again, I reckon.

It's the same with hair and when people have literally months of regrowth emanating from their roots. I would rather get a box and do it myself than wind up sporting a really obvious silver stripe down the middle of my head for want of an appointment with my hairdresser.

Most people that I've done nails for are easily ready for a rebalance at the two week stage and, if it were me, I'd rather go without extensions altogether than let them go much longer. Whilst I can appreciate the cost aspect, I just don't understand how people benefit from having such tatty talons half the time they're on? :irked:

Have to agree with Gigi...this woman is taking the P***! and its now time to put an end to it chick.

Explaine to your client that you understand her wanting value for money but the time between her appointments means her treatment is that of a full set and not a rebalance/infill.
State the 3 tiered structure for infills (2, 3, 4 weeks etc) give her the prices and explaine anything above and beyond that constitutes a full set price.

If your client doesnt like it then tough, if she was mine i wouldnt be worrying. Its a sad fact that some people take great pleasure in taking the P and getting out of life what they can at the expense of others.

Stand your ground chick and if she is a loyal customer she will take on board what you are saying and continue to visit for her treatments.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

These type of clients make me laugh.....

Infill price is for a infill

Re balance price is for a re balance

Your client isn't requiring either of these....so why does she think she should pay these prices.

If i need my roots done i pay for my roots....if i have left it ages and the regrowth is more i expect to be charged more.

Im the same as Geeg, I have a 2 and 3 week price and after that its a full set!

i totally agree, whats the point of having manky looking nails for 2 weeks before going for maintenance, wheres the good value in that ?
the whole idea of having nail treatments is to have good looking nails atall times

i totally agree with everything thats been said.
before i did my own nails i was paying salon prices and having infills every 2 weeks as i didnt see the point of having them done if i wasnt going to look after them properly.
the amount of people ive done that just wait for them to come off rather than have them infilled or taken is amazes me.
one of my clients started leaving it for atleast 3 weeks before she would come back, they were so bad that i had to soak off and start again.this was when i realised that you cant do it this way you need to charge more as time goes on like the others said.im just re doing my price lists and this is what i have done this time.
you definately need to change your prices.xx

Ive gotta new client like this Im gonna stick a thread on here about her later ,she can go 4-5 weeks without an infill.....she says ,she came to me after being an MMA client, infilled them once , called me after to repair nails that have broke, has now booked an appointment for 2 weeks time for infills...thats 5 weeks..little does she know if she calls to say in the mean time shes broken a nail,I aint answering the phone, and when I turn up for her 5 weeks infills, she will be getting charged extra..Oh yeh but .she says ..my MMa nails I used to go 4 weeks before infills..Yeh well now youve got MY nails almost nearly now so its 2 or 3 week appointments.!!

i have one of these clients but i think ive left it to long to say! im talking 6 wks - half way upthe nails with faketan etc and about 60 layers of polish holding it all togethr. prob is ive let her away withit for about a yr and i dont feel i can say now plus she pays by chq so she can see how prcie has went of. im pissed of cos on sat she rang wanting 1 nail fixed and expected me to slot her in ( which like a tube i did) then when she did she actually had 2 off. its a joke but it my own faultcos i never charge her more than £25!!
somebody slap me!!
how can i say to her to now plus part of me feels yes shes annoying me now but in the middle of jan im glad to see her
