:) Hi all...I've been lurking around this site for a few months now and I feel that I should introduce myself. My name is LeCheryl and I am a professional makeup artist located in Florida. I'm almost 30 years old and I've been getting my nails done by nss shops since I was 15. About 6 months ago I went for my regular appointment for a full set. During that appointment they tried to pry the old nails off with nippers and a nail tip... I was cut by the drill, cut by the nail clippers and cut by the files, when I left there my nail beds hurt so bad that I had to soak them in epsom salt to ease the soreness:cry:...I was just fed up at this point. I made a decision right there and then that I would never return to a shop like that.

I decided that I would do my own nails and do them the right way. It's a shame the way they treat people..the do not care about you or your nails..they are only interested in your money. It took me 15 years to figure this out and I can honestly say that you geeks opened my eyes. If I hadn't found this site I don't know what I would have done. You all have been a wealth of knowledge and a true inspiration to me. I want to thank each and every one of you for all the time that you put in to answer questions and guide us newbies in the right direction. This site was and is my main motivation to get out there and make a difference. Next Monday I begin my licensed nail technician class and I am uber excited. I know that this is a lengthy post but I just had to let you all know that are not being taken for granted. I know that I have learned so much already just by reading. This site is totally addictive. I'm on here at least 8 hours a day.

Big geeky welcome LeCheryl:hug: we're glad to have you with us.
My oh (husband) is visiting Carolina in a couple of weeks time, I think that's the next state up from you? He's going for a job as an I.T. lecturer, if he gets it, my next step will be trying to get my English nail etc qualifications recognized in the USA.
So you might find me pm ing you with all sorts of questions, if that's ok?
I've been addicted to this site for nearly 4 years:eek: all that housework not done all those meals not cooked:green:

Hi LeCheryl, Welcome to the site!!

Great news about your upcoming training, you will be hooked (if you aren't already).
You have an advantage that you are already in the industry and can make contributions of your own to the make up side!

Good luck in your training x

Welcome to the site, so glad you are taking part now and no longer a lurker lol!!

People don't always take the time to say thank you and it is so appreciated.

Welcome to thesalongeek

How cool that you have been inspired by the geeks to enter the nail industry. Once you have spent all those hours learning how to pass the State Board exams .. we'll be here to help you with your nail skills!! lol With your background you should be good at it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Yes I am really excited about starting my class..Here in Florida we have to do 240 hours to become licensed..I honestly believe that these will breeze by as I am so excited to enter the industry. I've done hair in the salon for 6 years..I've been a makeup artist for 5 and now I'm ready for nails. At that rate I'll be a one woman salon:)

I had to laugh when you said you'd be a one woman salon! My sister says that I'm a career student and that I'll be licensed in everything. The industry is so interesting that I can't help wanting to learn about it all! Good luck!
