Hi , This is the first time ive ever written anything on here, always been too shy to!I wondered if any of you could give me some advice-I use IBD products and always use acrylic bright top coat over acrylic nail extensions.4 of my clients have been abroad this year seperatly and come home saying their nail extensions have melted!!It seems to be the topcoat going all tacky.I tried it for myself when I went away and it happened to me too! (and it wasnt that hot either!)So I dont know if its a reaction to the heat or something like suncream. With summer coming I dont want unhappy clients.Does anyone have any advice?

Oh dear!!! Can't help you I'm afraid, don't use the same products.

Welcome & well done on your first post!

Just thought I'd bump this thread before it sinks to the oblivion that is page 2!!!

Hopefully someone can help you.

top coats do seem to go tacky in the summer and abroad....because of sun creams mostly...these make the uv top coats go tacky, best advice...retail the top coat so your ladies can take it with them and remove and re apply the top coat when needed.
or use a uv gel sealer over the enhancements instead, problem solved

I use NSI's Glaze n Go,which is a tack free gel layer to be used over acrylics, I'm sure IBD do one, is it called Intense Seal? This will solve your probs

Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me - I really appreciate it:) xxxx

I think it's down to the acetate in the sun creams.....I don't like using top coats to finish enhancements, apart from the sun cream reason, I find they attract dirt and look discoloured when they come back for rebalance.......buff to a high shine without the top coat and you won't get the problem!

Well I recently came back from my hols, and I know for a fact that I've found out what it is that melted my top coat:eek:.

Not the sun creams, not oils, it was the insect repellent.

The particular one that did this was, "Jungle Formula" which is a cream insect repellent. I realised that it was only melting the top coat or any polish I was waring. If I just wore the acrylic with no polish or top coat, the nails were fine.

Funny I was going to do a thread about it myself, but it slipped my mind!:green:

It's the 'deet' contained in the repellent. It's known to not agree with enhancements and/or topcoats.

ooooh!
Nice one Sandi, didn't know that!
Cheers! :)

Your 'Jungle Formula' would be one of the worst offenders Jules because if I remember rightly it contains 40% deet or more, it's the strongest one as far as I'm aware, a friend of ours uses it as he has an allergy to mozzy bites.

Has to be said though, I can't fault the stuff. I was the only one out of the ten of us who didn't get bitten. Not once!

So I'm sorry to say that I was happy to sacrifice my nails just for two weeks than ending up like a kids dot to dot picture!:lol::lol:
