We have been doing Minx for a few months now, very very pleased with them, however, have had some problems....I had a set on my toes for 7 weeks, eventually the big toe nail on one foot appeared to 'shed' the minx along with the top layer? I have also had at least 3 clients with finger minx come back afterwards with their fingernails damaged - they appeared scratched? I put this down to them having just peeled them off, and a member of staff (since sacked) having been to enthusiastic with the prep - however, a client came in recently saying she had them done last year and they split her toenail. again, she took them off herself.
Any suggestions? I haven't spoken to sweet squared yet - i will do, sorry geeg - just wondered if anyone else had similar experiences?
:o:o

Are you sure it was a layer of nail that came off and not the minx adesive that was old (7ish weeks) dryed out and remaining on the nail in transparent patches because the minx was more than likely peeled off and not removed with heat and T.L.C?
another thought could it have been that your clients got so used to seeing the lovely finish of the minx on there nails that when they got it off the nails under wear not exactly how they rembered them...

2 both of u, it was me that had the problem with the minx on for 7 weeks, i was trying them out - am not sure it was a layer of nail, cos my toenail seemed ok, its just that it came off as a sort of shell but the nail seemed ok, bit weird? i know...i did try them out on my finger nails and they seemedto be scracted, again, i put that down to an over enthusiastic therapist.....i think she just prepped the nail 2 much, and did the same to another client. My reiki teacher is coming back in after 4 weeks to have a replacement set on her toes, jus how long should they last? i have said 4 wks for toes and 2 for fingers, is that reasonable?:o

I had this on my own nails after having them on just for 3 days. They did, however, recover very quickly with some solar oil. I am a hairdresser with no junior at present, so I am shampooing a lot. I put it down to that and the air not reaching my nails.

Hi

Just wondered if anybody else has had any experience of this?!

I've only done a few sets on myself and one on my niece. My first set was just fine, on for nearly five weeks and didn't remove because they needed replacing but was just too impatient to try a different style! Unfortunately my second set were only on for about three weeks and then one of my toe nails split so had to remove. Did remove with heat but I have had a similar problem in that the nails appear scratched and the tips are very flimsy and flaky.

Would be grateful if anybody could shed some light on this. My niece removed hers and didn't have a problem at all! Obviously would like to figure out why this happened before I apply to a clients as am hoping to introduce the treatment soon. Also will be doing a pamper party for my niece and don’t want her six friends to come back to me with the same problem.

Cheers.

I have had a similar problem with my finger nails.I applied and removed them myself, so I know I didn't scratch them. When I removed them my nails appeared a bit scratched.I solar oil and buffed them, which made them look a lot better, but it did worry me as I don't want this to happen with a clients nails.

We have been using Minx in my salon for about a year now, we have had similar problems but only on my nails. I always have them on for about 7 weeks or more (because I am too busy to get them changed) and the last time I took them off they were what I can only describe as water damaged.
By this I mean that water gets under them slightly and the nail bed becomes damp. This is also why I think the nails are splitting, all I did was slightly buff over them and painted them for a week and they were fine.

Hope this helps.

I have been using minx for over a year and havent had any problems, I have just taken my minx off after 12 weeks and my toes were fine:D

I've bad this and it was entirely my fault. I removed them with heat but took them off too fast. If I was just a but slower I don't think it would have happened. I advise clients to heat with their hair dryer and gently remove and not pull too hard. Very strong adhesive.

Thanks everyone.

I did think this was the kind of thing that usually happened with water damaged nails but hopefully it is just a one off and will only be me it happens to.

Unfortunately I don't have any solar oil so am having to make do with some other oil I have but doesn't seem to be doing much!

Can't remember whether I peeled them off quicker this time either so will just take extra care next time.

Thanks again.

I have my minx on for about 7 weeks, and I heat it up remove really slowly and still it takes some toenail with it, those badboys stick really well lol I can only have minx on twice in a row then have to paint them for a while xx
