Hi.

I have an assignment to do and I need to put in info about the 4 stages of mitosis. I have 'the complete nail technician' and 'beauty therapy - the foundations' but cant find anything. Apparently it is in 'the encyclopedia of nails' - typically the one book I dont have! I know the stages are Propohase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase but thats as far as I know.

Thanks for anything.

Hi Debs

I wrote The Complete Nail Technician and I'm sorry it didn't give you the answers you needed!

This level of knowledge isn't in the Standards. When writing the book, I was careful to add extra detail that I believed was useful for a technician. This was one of the areas that I felt was irrelevant. All cells reproduce and the stages are interesting (well to nerds like me) but not essential knowledge that can enhance your understanding.

Thank goodness for the internet! I don't know if it is in The Encyclopedia but, frankly, this detail is taking knowledge a bit too far. I'm involved with the Standards and would rather see time spent on a detailed understanding of nail growth

OMG - I LOVE YOU. (well, the book - which in turn...)

I have qualified in beauty therapy and that included man and ped and I had never even heard of these stages. I'm only studying level 2 nail technology at the moment so I was thinking it was delving in a bit far myself. But, if that is what the tutor wants, right?!

I have just done A&P and we got taught to remember it by: -
P = Prophase
M - Metaphase
A = Anaphase
T = Telephase
I = Interphase

PMATI

I helps to give yourself rymes to remember these things. Also draw yourself the stages and make notes on your paper so everything is on one sheet. Its easier to learn that a whole load of writing.

Good Luck

Shame you dont have your Beauty books it would be in there. Im surprised the A & P units of the beauty therapy didnt cover the cell etc. I know they do now, there are some great links on google. I found putting one word in gets more info rather than a sentence.

Have fun and enjoy x

WOW.. im impressed at you naming the 4 stages of MITOSIS.. however like MUM already stated its simply not necessary in level 2 standards.. the most you would be asked to do in an assignment for that level is to describe the nail growth process.. id pass you if you mention MITOSIS and id pass you if you didnt but described the process correctly- id prob just be more impressed if you did - but LOL i can usually tell which books the students have got out of the library! Well done thou..
