Hey Ya'll~
I have a client who is an EMTand has been coming to me for over two years. Sometimes she goes through this thing where the tips of her fingers (kinda extended past her sidewalls) dry and split. Not only are they a nusance for me as her tech but OMG painful for her! We have tried cuticle oil, paraffin dips, lotion, scent free lotion, exfoliation by way of sugar scrubs, UGG! Does anyone have any suggestions on helping her? I'm kinda at a loss. She wants to continue to get her nails done but I have a strict policy on not doing nails on someone with open sores!
Thanks so much for your time.

Emergency Medical Technician and I have a client that has a similar problem and I use cuccio hydrating hand cream, honey and milk. My client loves it and it seems to be working a treat on her hands too. I use it to finish all my treatments with and thats when we noticed a change in her hands getting softer and not spliting. She also uses solar oil on her cuticles which helps. Ho[e this is of help. xxx

Thank you so much, I will try it. I too use solar oil but just doesnt seem to help. I even gave her her own bottle for at home use. But thanks for replying!

Hey, I see you are in the US....chances are the issue is the hand sanitiser/wash she is using. If its Hibiclens, that would moisturise but if she is using straight clorohydrate, it is a killer on the skin. Surgeons have these issues too....most of them use Keri lotion, every time they wash their hands cos the disinfectant is really drying.

Ask her what they are using to clean up after an incident. Do they also use the pump quickie sanitiser as well? That stuff is pure alcohol (ie. drying). As you are in the US, maybe she can start using the Avon Silicone Glove creme, that stuff is the bomb!

Good luck

I'd advise her to see a dermatologist as she is having a reaction to something and may need steroid type creams to clear it up completely.
I should know, I have very bad excema on my hands & fingers and they split open every now & then.
Hope she gets it sorted soon xx

I had a client whos thumbs were horrendous for cracking and splitting. I used solar butter on her and she brought a pot to use at home. She started wearing cotton gloves at night and slathering the solar butter on. It cleared them up within about a month, 12 months later still no return of the cracks or splits.

This doesn't sound nuts at all.

I have recommended Cucumber Heal Therapy for hands like this on more than one occasion and it has worked wonders.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate all the time and suggestions!
