Hi everyone, I have a friend of a friend who has asked me to do some nail art tomorrow! What i would like to do is nail art with a layer of gel over the top! My question is, normally i would do nail art over gel extensions and a clear top coat, but if i am putting the nail art on the natural nail and overlaying with gel, would the primer affect the nail art?????

Or would it be better to do thin layer of gel, cure, wipe, nail art then another layer of gel over the top???

I will be hand painting nail art with strippers, glitters etc!
Any advice please???

It would be better to do a very thin base layer of gel, then your art and then cover with a gel overlay hth

I agree with loubylou, it would be better surface as well to do your art work on hun...x

Thnx so much for ur hep

If you remove the inhibition layer then you'd have to buff the enhancement with a 180 grit to ensure the next gel application adheres properly. I would build my whole enhancement, buff to shape with a 180 grit, remove dust, apply nailart, then apply my Finishing Gloss (or whatever the equivalent is in your brand).

Which gel brand are you using?

I did wonder about how the second layer would adhere as you dont wipe between layers usually?????
But i wanted the layer of Gel over the top so that the nail art stayed on longer rather than just art on natural nail with a clear top coat!
Maybe i will do as suggested Gel overlay with the nail art on top!
I am using Star nails Gel which was what i trained in, but when i have used this up i am considering converting!

You don't usually wipe between layers with most buff-off gels, is Star Nails Gel a buff-off?

If you do your nailart before the final gloss top coat the art will be protected and should last until your client needs a rebalance.

Star Nails Quattro is good for sealing nail art. HTH:)

This is what I would do too for painted nail art.
