Hi All,

I'm currently doing NVQ lvl 2 Beauty Therapy and qualify if June this year. Once I'm finished i would love to do some nail courses and learn nail enhancements and nail art techniques etc.

Looking around there seem to be so many courses available, specialising in 1 range, varying content and the length of time and price seem to vary amazingly!

What have you all done? Would you say a 1-5 day course is just as beneficial as a 6-12 month course or vise versa. I'm completely lost and confused!

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?? Someone must have some kind of opinion?

Hi, im training myself at the moment at college. I work full time so it had to be evening classes. My course is very specific , just acrylic nails, its not a full nvq but it is certified and we use professional products. Hours wise it pretty much equates to one of the 5 day courses which tend to be spread over a few weeks. So with both you get to go away and practise and come back to your tutor. I personally am finding already that perhaps college is a little outdated or at least sticking to what its been teaching but its good fun and my tutor is lovely and helpful and a great tech which is important. I had wanted to do a CND foundation but as a teacher was not allowed the days off but im happy with the route i have chosen. Im sorry i cant compare the 2 really for you! im sure some poeple on here have done both and will be more helpful for you.
good luck hun xx

There have been a great many threads on this over the past few days even. Have a little look at the recent posts and i'm sure it will answer a lot of your questions, and probably ones you haven't even thought of yet LOL. xx

ring around private courses.
then go to your college and chat there at what they offer.
I believe if you get a good educator to teach you it will be better for you

Does your current college do any nail courses? If you have done the Mani/Pedi unit you can enrol in one starting soon.

Take a look under: Navigation - Articles - Training and have a trawl through there. Do a search under the forum on training and loads of posts will come up asking the same thing.

You need to find out what's available to you in your area - i would suggest a foundation through reputable company ie NSI, CND, Ezflow, Calgel, to name just a few and research them. Everyone here uses different systems so in the end its what suits your life.

But from personal experience i would stay clear of home learn (except Essential Nails) as most are just theory and you need to pay more to get any practical and on the course i took this was just one day!

HTH's and good luck with your Beauty Therapy.

this would greatly depend on who was delivering the trainning, class ratio, etc

use full advise would also add to this can you get any back up support once your course has finished, there will allways be things that you would like to no more on or need reassusrance that you have made the right choices and decisions.

Eduaction is a journey not a destination!

I agree with Absolutely Fab on this one. I did my 5 day foundation training with Creative, our class size was small which was perfect and our educator was A1 :green: There's still plenty of practising for me to do to feel confident enough to get myself out there but I am 100% happy in the knowledge that my educator is on the other end of the phone should I need advice and she's also there to offer 1 to 1 additional training :) Good luck with whichever training route you opt for Kel x

As Marion as said this question has been ask quite a number of times honey but I will give you the same advise I give to everyone.

Education, Education, Education Is the key to success in this industry and you can never get to much even to an old hand like me I still take classes every year so I can pass this on to students.

The next piece of advise is always go with one of the big companys such as Ez flow, Young Nails, CND and NSI but to name a few then you know you are getting highly trainied professionals and will not be disappointed with the end result.

My advice to you would be to research 1st. Contact the top companies such as EzFlow,CND, Young Nails and NSI etc and ask them to send you a training brochure. You can also ask them any questions you have regarding their courses. hth
