Hi
I will be doing a 4 day course at The Carlton Institute in Windsor soon, NVQ2 Nail Tech.
Does anyone know if this is a good training site....I guess it's a little late to ask now as i have already paid, but I only found Salongeek afterwards!!

Thanks

Hi i trained with the carlton institute, i thought it gave you an insight and base to build further knowledge from , like most of these short courses ( that are noot with specific companies), but i would recommend a conversion course in your chosen area be it acrylic/ge/fibreglass x

If you do a search at the top of the page and look for carlton institute this has been discussed before.

Theres been alot of bad feedback about it Im sorry to say, I went there to do my NVQ2 , never completed it as Ive had to get myself on conversion courses for more training as this just was not enough, and the products they use are nothing to shout about either so you ll need to get yourself on a conversion course after with a proffesional brand.

Seemed a hell of alot of money wasted , when I shouldve taken it else where..sorry to tell you this.

no way! I did my course with them and they were rubbish. I would see if you can get your money back and book a course with creative. I wasted over a thousand pounds with them and wish i had found geek before i booked with then

Same as :wink2: !!

Oh dear
Am all paid up, and would lose at least £280,-£200 deposit and £80 in hotel fees have paid (Non refundable as specail deal rates)
The only thing is that I cannot commit to a course spead out over a period of time as I work almost full time and cannot commit to same day each week in a evening
Is it really that bad???

I did a long course at a local college, its wasnt any better!!!

Dont waste your money now you're all paid up, its silly to loose all that. Use it as a start, practise loads, dont expect too much of yourself and just give it time.

Loads of ppl think doing nails is easy - it isnt!!

After a while, book a conversation course with a company who does products that are good.

Best of luck,
Karaxxx

IMHO hun yes it is really that bad. I would get the rest of your money back the £280 is nothing compared to the training that you would get with creative. I spent £1300 with carlton and felt that the training and qualification that I got from them wasnt worth the paper it was printed on. Put it this way.. they passed a girl on the course whos nails were horrendous she hd a certificate to say she had reached the required standard it was awful and i felt really let down as I am a self confessed perfectionist over my nails and I passed as well as her and I felt really let down.Spend the £1000 you would save on getting decent training hun.
Ring sweet squared and ask for their educational info. you wont regret it. You will regret going to carlton and wasting all that money hun. trust me I do!

I agree. xx

Am sticking with it
Am not prepared to waste any of the money I have paid, i think i will get out of it what i expect which will be a doorway into nails and under no illusions that i will come out all singing-all dancing expert. I am fairly confident that I wont regret it.
