You tell them that if the tips are applied properly with agood quality adhesive there is no dmage to the nail plates.
If this doesnt work then say you can sculpt them instead.

It isnt the products that damage the nails its the techs who apply them badly:irked:

if you are using the correct method and products there will be no damage.

in fact adhesive similar to ours is used medically to mend wounds.

could it be that these clients have experienced damage from incorrect blending techniques rather than from the adhesive.

i use calgel, and in actual fact the adhesive is never applied to the nail, as we always put a base coat of clear gel on the nail first then apply the tip to that!

I would probably be quite blunt and make it clear that adhesive does not damage the nails....if she has had damaged nails it will be because of...a..b...c, tell her you use good quality tips, good quality products and if she follows your aftercare advice then there should be no problems.

But if she really doesnt want tips then you can sculpt (presuming you do sculpt) but it will cost a little bit more...if you dont sculpt...dont say that bit lol x

say to them "Oh, I didn't know you were trained with nails?, only joking, as the others said its down to the techs as to what condition their clients nails end up like

yes I agree the damage they had, from the look of it anyway...was from aggressive filing and most probably she had MMA products applied to her nails too (I am assuming as she was a first time client used to be paying £15 for a full set!)...

I use CND so I am confident the products I use are fine.

but in general i just find a lot of "ignorance" out there...and when explaining things its like "they dont believe you"...and make me feel as if I was saying things just to win them over!!...

how do u deal with that?

Susan is so right. A lot of nail chemistry is used medically. For example, acrylic chemistry is similar to the chemistry used when adhering bones during surgery in the medical field, which makes it interesting when people say that acrylic causes cancer and birth defects.

Preparation of the natural nail with moderate filing, in conjunction with primer and the proper mix ratio will create a durable enhancement with no damage to the natural nail.

CND do not sell glue - glue is made from animal byproducts - You use adhesive and when used properly will have no damaging effects to the nail. Unfortunatly I'm like a dog with a bone when clients talk this type of c**p to me and have armed myself with PLENTY of nail knowledge to combat.
So next time someone asks you be very confident and tell them that you are well trained and use quality products!

Hi,
If she is happy with acrylic, then you can apply the tips with a small amount of acrylic, you just need to hold it a bit longer for it to set.
Done it that way plenty of times on myself.
Apparently that is how tips were applied before nail bond was available......correct me if I am wrong anyone ????????
Best wishes with the client.
Lotsa luv x  x

Posh, you are correct! That is how I was trained to apply a tip using the acrylic itself as the bonding agent!. I still do it that way on myself when I am too lazy to resculpt a nail (my preferred method).

:)
