Hi all,

I have not done any sets of nails for almost a month due to my confidence sliding due to the damage I caused myself by overblending and struggling to cut wells out.

Anyway, today, I finally plucked up the courage to try cutting wells out and I did myself a full set (- 2 which I have badly damaged).

Please could you let me know what you think please.

hiya
these are just tips??? the thumb looks a bit big and i would personally say they are to long! you seem so passionate about nails lou i dont understand why you are not practising every day! its the only way u are going to build your confidence :D by the way i have seen worse tips applied by people that have been doing nails for a long time so keep it up and you will be fine

think you need to get a new camera Hun :)
Are they fiberglass/silk? It is really hard to tell a lot from your photo ,maybe the middle finger and ring finger need a little more shaping? Look a bit rounder , maybe even try tapering them a little to , you have nice sized nail beds you could emphasize this by shortening them little , but like Jo said "you seem so passionate about nails Lou I don't understand why you are not practising every day! Its the only way u are going to build your confidence :D"
She is right , learn from your mistake of over blending ,and at least it was on you and not a client, we all make mistakes and we all have our strengths and weaknesses , don't let these things scare you ,you are doing good. And being on hear asking the questions and practicing will help Hun, and one day it will just click into place and you will just "get it"

Hi girls,

Thank you for taking the time to have a look and comment. I really do appreciate it.

I have had a lot of problems at college tbh. When I was doing man/ped course, I flew through it and got 25/25 on my exam and basically certain individuals began to cause problems for me in class. I changed nail tech classes so I wouldn't have to be in their class, but that hasn't stopped the problems. They have asked three girls in my nail tech class to keep them "up-to-date" with what i'm doing and if I "mess up". I feel so uncomfortable in class and can feel them watching me and I feel under a lot of pressure to perform even more. It got to the stage two weeks ago when they were trying to get a copy of my assignments and since then my email account has been hacked into and i've been receiving some very odd phone calls and text messages off "supposed" clients who want me to NOT phone them but text them my price lists etc. My dad is also very poorly atm too, so am worrying about that.

I think me completely knackering my own nails up and struggling to cut those Wells out was just the final straw tbh, cos i've always had such gorgeous nails and i'm so upset, but i've now learnt to accept i've messed up and I won't do it again and now it's time to stop wallowing in it and just get on with it. I'm pleased that I did do the set yesterday and I took the time to cut the Wells out. I know they are still not perfect but I achieved something yesterday and now it's time to build on that.

xx

Awwwwwww Hun,
you know what? You have to grow a thick skin and ignore them , I know that sounds easyer said than done right? But when your done with collage you will be on your own so will they, you can take with you what you have learned and gained through practice ect, you can sucseed but don't let them get in your way , use the situation with them as practice as when you leave collage and are a working tech you may still get other local techs make comments on your work or try to find out what your doing/using ect,you have to learn to hold your head high and ignore gellousy,
make a standered text/email with price lists text it to whom ever it is you don't need to go into huge details.
As for your nails relax you have some of the best people in the industry right hear on this site , listen to them they won't stear you wrong or try to steal your ideas,

Thank you for your lovely message. Everyone is so helpful on here and gives fantastic advice, but Geeg, just blows me away. I don't think I have ever met anyone in any industry who is so knowledgable and passionate about what they do. Her passion is just so infectious. If I could have one wish, i'd wish to spend a month with Geeg. I'd be her YTS, lol.

Hi Loulou

Dont let these people get to you, you would think at their age that they would have grown up by now. What they are doing is bullying and this shouldnt be tolerated. Try and ignore them and get on the best that you can, its such a shame when you hear about things like this, have they got nothing better to do. Have yopu mentioned it to your college tutor and what has she said.

As for your nails as people have said its hard to tell from the picture, but IMO it looks like the tips need to be blended a bit more as you can see them, but I can understand how you dont want to blend too much after the damage that you done. Believe me we have all done this. Maybe try blending the tip before you apply it, what I mean is buff over the tip where the well is to thin it out and that way you wont have to blend as much. Another thing that people use is blend a tip, I know some people say dont bother with this, it might help you get through it especially while your nails have damage. I personally dont use this, they taught us in college to use it. It such a shame that you dont live near me, as we could sit and have a practice together, maybe help each other. Send me a pm message and we can have a chat. Anyway, good luck at college hun. Abi

keep your chin up! and dont let them grind you down!!

some people are really pathetic and they are probably just jealous that you did sooo well on your last course. jealousy does funny things to people!

Is it just me or would anyone like to put these school bullies who've never grown up in a room with some really good nail techs and let them see what they should be concentrating on and watch their over inflated egos completely deflate. Making someone else feel small might make them feel big at college but they're in for a big shock when they get out into the real world.Dont let these low life nail wanna be's get you down Lou coz i doubt they're ever gonna be's. x

Lou, you come across as such a lovely, bubbly person. Take no notice of them, like others have said they are just nasty bullys with nothing better to do with their time. As for the tips and the wells you have cut out, well done! I think your deffo getting there, as I know you have had allot of trouble with this for some time. Just keep going and keep trying, you know we are all on here to help and guide each other. These nasty little girls are not worth anymore of your time.

Lou - I am not a nail tech ( yet! ) so can't comment on your blending and stuff but I would like to say that the people who are in your college are bullies - nothing more and nothing less. They obviously feel the need to try to put those better than themselves down and their jealousy over your perfect marks on your previous assessment must eat away at them.

Keep your chin up babe, throw on a smile and next time you speak to them offer to teach them how to get good marks and throw out a cracking set of nails - that should shut them up for a bit ;)

xxxxxxx

Why not try Well less tips?? ... God it's just a lot of hard work cutting out wells when you could buy them without wells.

The tips you have in this pic just look very bulky (not your fault)

You can get nicer and thinner tips that are much easier to blend.

I use the Natural tips from Youngs and they suit most nail types.

The tips from CND are great too and you wouldn't know yourself if you tried them.

HTH :D

PS: keep your chin up... those girls are jealous!!!!!

Where are you Lou Lou you've gone very quiet xx
