Due to ongoing illness I have had to withdraw from my level 2 ITEC beauty therapy course that started in back January. I am supposed to be going back in september but at 39 and with my health issues I am really not convinced that I am willing to put myself through a full years worth of studying and travelling on public transport 2 days a week. I already have manicure/pedicure so that part of the course is redundant anyway.

So I have been thinking about short intensive courses and then upgrading them to a NVQ level 2 through home study as in case studies through the college that I decide to study with. The courses I would like to do are skin care, eye treatments and make up. I have already decided to go with Kim Lawless for the waxing and spoken to her already.

Can anyone recommend a college in the Yorkshire area that offers this kind of course. I ha
ve looked at The Beauty Academy The Beauty Academy | Beauty Courses Nail, Massage and Beauty Therapy Training Courses near Doncaster/Pontefract a bit of a distance from me but I am willing to travel.

Do companies like Eve Taylor, Swiss Dermyl etc do beginners courses in facial and skin care?

Any recommendations would be gratefully recieved!

Without coming across obnoxious if you cant manage the learning curve for the NVQ2 at just 2 days a week, what makes you think you can cope with several short and very intensive courses that will still require your inititive and further research work after completeing, not to mention actually putting these gained qualifications into practise?

Obviously i dont know your circumstances and i dont want to pry but if you love the inductry but cannot put the physical work into what about looking into another area in the same industry like sales, marketing, managment, teaching etc?

The beauty academy is just off the M62 so easy to get to . Junction 34. hth.

you would have to have a facial course for a skincare range to accept you.

try albion academy, Ripon.

without coming across obnoxious i have a masters degree and a degree in teaching. I have several qualifications that relate to the beauty industry already at level 2 and level 3. I have also several other beauty related courses under my belt. perhaps you should have read my profile before posting.

the learning curve is not the issue I am an intelligent woman and my qualifications and all i have achieved in life are testamount to that fact. the problem is that at the moment i am so ill that i am unable to commit to the course on a week to week basis, heck i cant even have a trip in my town centre at the moment without having some repurcussions. BUT i don't let it stop me.

So I am looking at other options, I dont want to start again in september and find i am in in the same position, it is a lifelong illness. I am looking now to see whats available so that i can make an informed choice and act on it when i am more able to do so

hope this clarifies the situation

Professional Beauty Training in York offer top class beauty courses, I did a fair few with them, class sizes were never over 4 of us and in a few classes there were only 2 at a time. She is BABTAC accredited too.

I shall Pm you her number
