Hello!!

I'm having a few probs with coloured gel overlays chipping on the end

I put a base layer on a thin layer of gel cure in lamp another thin layer cure then top coat builder gel remove sticky layer and buff etc then glaze & Go - any ideas why this would be happening - help!! xxx

could be too thin....i don't use NSI but i do use coloured gels and fine that if they are too thin they can chip...as can any gel. I find it helps loads to build the nail up a little with clear gel (i use a builder gel) first.....so...

prep

primer (if your system requires it)

bonder layer of gel....cure

builder gel to give strength and shape....cure

wipe....buff smooth (i use a white block)....remove dust and clean

1 thin layer of colour gel.....cure

2nd layer of colour gel...cure

topgloss....cure

wipe and done.

remember to make sure you cap the free edge with each layer of gel you do.

cool thanks for ur help i'll try it that way i am buffing shaping filing at the end leaving it all thin so its more like a polich i tend to build up on top of colour instead of colour on top of built up nail so will try it this way many thanks xxx

you will also find that building under the colour rather than over it will make it faster when you do a colour change

Angie I work exactly the same as you except I use the same gel to base & build and then only have to cure once

brush it on as base, then pick up a bead to build, then cure - flash nail by nail to hold my c cuve & then 2 mins at the end

Hi hun,
I had an awful lt of problems with NSI coloured gels. Mine always cracked and chipped at the free edge.

I ended up changing gels - to NCO London. They do a fab range of colours and a good soak off kit too (although not as much colour choice here - Gina, any new colours coming in the Flexi range? Lol!)

Anyway, never had any probs with NCO.

I was trained is NSI and had the same problems as you and changed to Lechat Nobiliy which is easy to use and great.
But someone told me to try stop using Glaze and Go as that could be the problem, I did a french without it and it didn't seem as bad at all

Dear Baileys,

You want to make sure that you are sealing/capping the free edge (especially when doing NNOs). Are you doing that?

ive used nsi coloured gels with no problems at all so it more likely to be your application rather than a problem with the products.
i agree about capping the free edge, run your brush lightly along the free edge of the nail on every layer og gel as this will help seal and the nail and prevent chipping.x
