Parrafin wax heaters - what do you use to take the wax out?

What do you use to take the wax out of a parrafin wax heater? at college they use laidles. are they the best to use? or is there another tool out there ,

I use a laidle too, but i found a nice small one (from the local £1 shop!!) and does the job perfectly and small enough to pack in the wax heater bag when mobile
