Basically what I am wondering is how you guys do your pedicures?
In the salons I have worked we have done them so many different ways.
1st place did them with the client laying down.
2nd place had recliners and little stools
3rd place they have a massive pedicure massaging chair with a little spot for the feet and a small chair for the therapist.
I am opening as a home salon and am able to offer it for the client to sit down for the pedicure spa and then get on to the massage bed and bend her knees as I do the filing/painting etc.
Or I can sit the massage table up with cushions behind her also and do the whole pedi on the massage table and just lay it down again after the foot soak.
What do you think?any ideas or opinions? anything is greatly appreciated

I do my pedis on a slightly reclining comfortable chair that has a matching foot stool. Almost looks like an oversized office chair. They all love it and don't want to get up after :D Don't have a lot of room and having to move the client to a different chair or changing the back of the chair during the treatment would be too much messing and somewhat disruptive for me. Sort of disturbs the client when they are relaxing. But that's just what I do.

I have my clients sitting on a chair with feet soaking, during exfoliation foot propped on a small footstool, then i move them onto the massage couch where they lay their head down on a couple of pillows while i perform cuticle, shaping, enamel and massage. On numerous occasions the client has fallen asleep, bliss......

Good question! I have been wondering the same thing myself. I think I'm going to go with a comfortable reclining chair as long as I don't have to break my back leaning over too much. I think when I have had pedicures where I have been moved has spoiled the experience because you get comfy and relaxed.

annasmum, do you use the same chair for manicures aswell? Where did you buy your chair from?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do have an office chair in there that is suitable for the soak, most clients find it comfertable enough the way I do it (usually just sitting up on the massage table with the back lifted then i drop it down) but even i find it does get sore on your back after a while. if i can find a comfy chair and stool that aren't too big or too low I think I will get 1.

Mine sit on the same chair that I use for my nail table, it's padded, has good back support etc. I use a footsie bath and while they are having a soak in that I get my exercise ball down, yep, I sit on an exercise ball, it's the right hight, for me and rolls where I want it, then I put the big fluffy towel over my knees with a smaller one on top and work on one foot at a time, including the massage at the end. Never had a client complain and I don't get back ache any more.:D

We have our clients on the bed/plinths with the backrest as high as it'll go & a couple of pillows to keep them comfortable. They stay like this the whole time but I remove the foot bath from the bed after exfoliation/before massage. Normally give them a coffee or whatever while they're sitting up and dim the lights when mask/massage is happening x

As a client, I enjoy pedicure thrones. I used to get mine done at a place with this fantastic massaging chair and non-recirculating foot bath. It was heaven.

I personally like doing pedi's with my clients in a pedicure chair that has room for a footsie bath and a pedestal for them to rest their foot on so I can work on it. I've had pedicures done lying down and I found it quite uncomfortable.
