I sometimes have the odd client who doesn't prep properly:grr:

Drives me nuts to say the least.

How good is the sienna x ex prep? Never used it. Could I use wipes instead? Do I charge more for doing so?

Thanks in advance

You're right, it's so disappointing that we go to all the trouble of explaining the spray tan process and getting all the information to our clients, yet the odd one ignores it all and then a few more "give their dry bits a going over with an exfoliating glove" .......

I'm afraid I don't offer anything. I have the pre-tan wipes on me all the time, but I try to reserve these for parties, especially in warm weather, where the clients can be perspiring by the time it's their turn.

I always ask new clients "so you got the pre-tan advice; did you manage to do some exfoliating then?" as well as ask them to confirm they've got no products on their skin. Most have done it, some do nothing and some lie through their teeth - it's so obvious!

Some clients say "oh I've just got to take my make-up off" and whip out some facial wipes. I then tell them they need to rinse all the wipe's residue off their face as it could act as a barrier to the tan.

This whole subject is, I find, one of the main stumbling blocks of spray tanning - skin prep and aftercare is sooooo out of our control yet can have such an effect on the overall result and life of the client's tan

You will get some clients that wont prep and i think no matter how much prep products you provide them or offer them they no doubt wont use it and still wont bother.
What does work well i find is when your on the phone to your client and telling them what to do prior to tan, make sure you inform them that if full prep isnt carried out fully then this will affect the result of their tan.

And if they still dont listen then they cannot moan that it doesnt look good because you did tell them. But more than likely you will find they do listen as of course they want a nice tan.

This is the reason that when i test a new solution i deliberately don't exfoliate and don't moisturise. I know clients don't always follow the advice given, so i want a solution that will last well even if they haven't followed the advice.
I sprayed a girl a couple of weeks ago who had a young toddler and when she came back for a 2nd tan i asked her if she had moisturised.
She said she hadn't as she only had time for quick showers with a toddler about. She said her tan lasted 8 days, she said it faded really well and it was the best tan she had ever had!
All my clients love my solution and it's worth testing lots of solutions to find one that is really good.

What solution do you use angelina?x

just keep a pot of buff wipes or something similar to hand and this problem will be greatly reduced.

Handy things to have around for those lazy customers

I dunno, it's obvious when someone is lying to you, it's for their benefit!!!

It just drives me nuts that's all as it's them walking around showing off the tan and probably saying 'it's not that good'. Well prepare properly then!

The odd person sometimes looks as if she's still pale, and I'm thinking, you must have used a bloody moisturiser or a body wash with oils in, even though I've told them not too.

Sorry to go on, just nice to have a moan and let it out

we get that too. unfortunately, there are just some people who wont listen. we can only give advice and explain the consequences of not following it and let them do the rest.

Its sad really, I dont understand why someone pays for a service and doesnt get the best out of it because they dont follow my advice, but i suppose its their choice.

Yes exactly, that's what I struggle to understand. If it was me, I'd wanna do everything in order to look my best and get my money's worth
