I seem to have white page syndrome yet again ,
but I would really love some juicy honest critique on these ,
I did these using my CND products ,to try and get to grips with them ,
I followed lots of tutorials I have printed off in a folder,
how have I done ?

what can I do to improve ?
im not sure about the apex, is it thick enough , compared to the free edge?
have I put it in the right place

Anyway , have a really good picky eye look ,
and hit me with it ..I can take it lol :green:

I also find shaping a bit tricky , I'm ok when filing the right hand side, but go all gammy handed when doing the left side,
so all my nails seem to lean to the right all the time ,
how can I overcome this?
I used Gigi's method of file control from the tutorials (holding as if shaking hands, then place finger on top, etc)
I found this much easier and it felt natural , but did struggle as I said on the left side,

Also having problems picking up large beads, so the whites are all done with 2 beads ,

I really appreciate you all having a look for me xxxx
as you can see there are loads of pics , so hope you dont get too bored lol , but i tried to get every possible angle

Where's the link hun?

have you got the piccy some where hunnio.... otherwise there is nothign to critique ;)

i done it now lol , sorry I did it wrong the first time :o

They look lovely to me! The smiles are lovely and crisp and the apexes (plural?) are curved and clean. Gorgeous lines of light too.
I always find that I can't do the smiles deep enough (if you see what I mean)....they could do with curving a little more. Do you find you have trouble with that?
Can't see what you mean by them leaning to the right!
All in all, nails to be proud of, I think - well done

I think they're fantastic. I thought at first that they were just a painted tip. You should be proud of yourself.

I'll leave it to the more experienced nail techs to give a crtitique but well done you. xx

YES!!!! and its driving me nuts ,
No matter how hard I try I cannot get a nice deep smile , I'ts more of a gentle curve ish ,
But I'd love to be able to do a really deep smile,
and I can never get the white high enough near zone 2 with one bead, it always takes two ,
These smiles are a bit wiggly and not consistant , but im going to practice and practice until i can work the beads, abrasives ect...without a second thought ..
I did lots of thinking while doing these, about this and that, I gave myself brainache:green:

I think your smiles are lovely and natural, perfect from what I can see.Well done:hug:

Okay then... :Scared:

I think it's a shame the pinky nail is so short, I'd have liked to see it a relevant length to the other nails.

Your smiles, although not overly smiley, are more of a natural smile, I personally prefer this to a deep smile which to me looks unnatural.

Pic 436, there's product or tip filings under the ring finger free edge (not a good look lol)

Pic 446, you can see the filings and/or product under the tips.

Pic 451, the smile starts much further down the nail than the other nails (uniformity).

Pic 457 is my favourite, you've got some gorgeous lines of light :D

Nice one Em :D

Emms I really think you are being very critical of your work, mate.

From looking at your pics, there isn't a lot I can criticize.

Your smile lines are spot on from what I can see,
Apex looks like it's in the right place,
You've got a great finish on them,

There is only one thing I would say, and that's maybe the free edge is a little thick when looking down the barrel shot. But then again this could be because you've done it on the nail trainer.

I say well done to you!
Looking good!!

brill thankyou hun, i wasnt sure if they were too straight ?

lol i did these straight ontop of the nail trainer nail bed thingy's, those bits are straggly bits of plastic of those :)

smashin xxxx thankyou xx will check that one out now x
:D

lol i always am , I'm a pain in the bum for it
Your smile lines are spot on from what I can see,
in real life they are a bit wiggly iykwim like where i have tucked the product in x

Apex looks like it's in the right place,
thats fab yay me !! thats one of the main things i was working on, my nails always seem so flat xx thankyou

You've got a great finish on them,
I tried to everything by the book so to speak, all the correct file control, the up in grit correctly, then the buffing etc..
Trying to snap out of any college bad habits now , and get into the creative way , ready for when I start up my business

maybe the free edge is a little thick when looking down the barrel shot. But then again this could be because you've done it on the nail trainer.
No it's probably just me , I have never really had a set thickness/thiness i worked too, I just played trial and error i suppose,
but want to make sure i get it all right now xx thankyou
abserloutly brilliant , thankyou..im going to have annother go tomorrow,
but this time with sculpting forms , instead of straight onto the nail trainer beds ..
ooh i feel excited for some reason lol :green:

Ems, don't think I'm knocking your smiles hun, cos I'm not! They are fab....much better than I could hope to achieve yet! lol
I suppose it's all down to a matter of personal opinion - some people like deeper smiles than others, some like 'em more natural. I have tried to do my smiles a little deeper than these, but can never manage it in one go, like you said! I always have to put one bead across the bottom and then one each side to extend the smiles up. They always end up looking wonky!.
I'm only a beginner, babes, so take my critiques with a pinch of salt! :wink2:

I would be more than happy to have you do my nails judging by these photos! No critique as I am not a nail professional - but just an honest opinion from a clients perspective.

xxx sugar xxxx

they are fab hun ! from what i can see they look brill , just the pinky being shorter looks a bit odd but they all look great , well done  xxx

Im just glad you commented and I appreciate what you said hunny thankyou
xxxxx

Unless you are competing, then forget extremely deep smile lines. They look very fake and unnatural and in many cases can make the nailbed look short and unbalanced and ugly. Most of those who compete do extreme smiles in 3 beads anyway, using two tiny beads to do the corners and make the look extreme.

What is this obsession to do deep smiles?? You're doing fine, Emma ... better than fine. Yourprogress has been stupendous ... why stress about learning a technique you will most likely never use on a paying client?? I would not thank any technician for doing deep smiles on my nails. It would be inappropriate.

 thankyou hun xxx
I think the deep smile thing , is more ....well for me anyway, just about, being able to, rather than needing to,

I am a bit of a fussy bum lol and just like to be able to do things, so I can then move on to something else,
At the moment , I am concentrating on zone 1 ,getting it as consistant and crisp as possible, so it flows naturally for me to do it ,
And my apex being in the right place, ..The perfect form !!!! thats what I'm after !!!
It's like doing the white in 1 bead ! I dont know why I feel like I should be able to do it, when really I know its ok that I cant.
I love days when i can sit , and practice and not get stressed though, these seem to be the days I do better.

I was chuffed to bits last night though, my friend thought the nails I was wearing, were tips, as the smiles are so neat ...my smile was like this.......:green:

I think I may actually be starting to gain some confidence with the nails that i do lol
its a good feeling !!!

you should be having confidence !!! your nails are lovely

emma you are doing really well, your apexes are fab, do you have any tips? cos this is where i struggle.
you've inspired me with your photos - im gonna get the nail trainer out! xx

ps - really love the way you made the nail trainer hold the solar oil bottle!! xx

do you have any tips?
I just printed off all the tutorials hun , and took them to the nail table with me , and read through each page , a bit at a time , then put it in to practice..

I did look like a divvy at times though..waffting my brush in the air writing my name to myself ..talking myself through it as I did it,
Then "shaking hands" with my abrasive, again saying out loud to myself.."hold the abrasive and if you are holding hands with it...now extend the finger..etc..":green:

I had to do this , as I was getting Nancy (Nail trainer)
to pose ...she moaned to me that she only ever did boring poses and everyone else got to do nice ones !!!
