Hi,

I am looking for some advice, I use the CND nail system for Acrylic and Calgel.

A lady came to me after paying a fair bit for getting her nails done that all fell off (in 1 peice).

I gave her a set of Acrylics and 2 fell off and she had REALLY bad lift on the other 8. (never had this before), I done another set but used the primer this time just in-case.

A couple of days later it was the same.

This time I done a set of gels and yet again she had really bad lift.

She is very pregnant and is due to pop any time soon, anyway my question is - is this because she is pregnant she is having these problems?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Suzie

Quite possible, someone correct me if I am wrong but from what I got told. Pregnant ladies can sometimes have alot of lift due to their bodies being in overdrive of oils etc so to speak. Some are lucky and can wear them no problems but one friend of mine told me once, when she did a client of her own whilst she was pregnant. When she got to filing them into shape she said it was like they were just peeling right off.

I'd say that if you know you have all your prep down to a t and you have tried everything else. Then maybe best to inform her that she might be better off waiting for her to have the baby so her body calms down a touch? either that or she will just have to come and see you once a week for maintenance xx

hth and im not just talking dribble

sorry just another thought. If you use CND system you could try using Nail Fresh to dehydrate her nails a little more and/or nail prime?

On the right track Dee

Pregnancy can have extremely unpredicatable results - the body is going through massive hormone changes and swings - add stress on and viola you have an impossible to answer issue...

Some clients are fantastic and there nails grow better than ever and nail enhancements are perfect... others... well it all kinda can go pear shaped

Dee's advice is correct, be prepared to try boosting prep with products such as nail fresh and also be honest that she may be best to have manicures until after baby is born..

i had the same problem when i was pregnant, i had biosculptue gel & had problems with them lifting!

i'm 7 months pregnant and a nail tech and have had to give up putting anything on my nails at the moment. they just keep lifting as you say, have tried everything!

i would not be surprised if the nails fall off when you are pregnant. i did not have that problem but then again i ate more fruit and loads of vitamins to keep my hair and nails healthy because, for example, my hair were thinning. that is because all the vitamins that your body consumes a baby takes them making your own calcium and ceratine reduce. dont forget that whilst you're pregnant 2 people are sharing the vitamins in your body. that is why extra vitamins come handy.

Some of the information in this post is not correct.

As long as a pregnant woman eats a normal healthy diet then her body does not become depleted in vitamins, minerals or keratin. The old wives tale about 2 people sharing may have some merit for women who live in 3rd world countries, but not in modern day UK and Western developed countries where we thankfully are able to enjoy a varied and healthy diet.

As for nails lifting during pregnancy, it is an individual thing and not a 'given'. Most of my clients who have been pregnant have had no problems wearing enhancements right up until their due date.

Got to agree with Geeg, none of my pregnant clients have had problems, just me! Think i'm producing excess oils as my hair goes greasy almost instantly as well
