Hi Geeks,

I passed my CND foundation course this week and fancied having a set of nail enhancements fitted by a CND Technician. OMG what a shock I got

I arrived at the salon and was taken to my grubby table. I asked the tech, it is CND that you are applying to my nails. Oh yes she said, our products are just decanted into small jars. So she started by filing my nail bed to remove shine, I asked, aren't you going to use cool blue and cuticle away? No, we don't do that here:eek: Ok, at this point I should of stopped her but curiosity got the better of me. She then fittted the tips straight after this, no scrub fresh in sight. I asked why they don't use these products as this was how I was shown/trained but she said there is no need to use all of that, its a waste of money:eek: so anyway I let her carry on. She had a really strange technique at applying l&p but it seemed to work for her. So after all 10 had product on she buffed with a 180 grit(from Sallys) to smooth, this was the only grit she used the whole time. Applied Solar Oil used block buffer and asked me to go and wash my hands. I came back and she finished with a top coat. OMG. No I didn't book my rebalance for 2 wks time, I will be very surprised if they last this long. I couldn't wait to get home to remove top coat and buff them natural. Oh by the way she was trained by Essential Nails, its her Mum that buys the CND products in and she is suppose to have trained years ago. Never again.

I have to say I never understand these posts!
You know the right from wrong about nails, yet you sit there and allow these so called nail techs work on you...I just don't get it sorry

is this similar to your other post about an eye brow waxer doing the job wrong too???

Its not difficult to understand, like I said in my post, sometimes you need to see how others work to appreciate how your own work looks so much more professional.

There is always going to be someone out there that uses a product and will try and pass it off as a more popular product.
When I did my training we were told about scrubfresh but was also told you could used anything to dehydrate the nail and also that u don't have to use cnd nailfiles or tips,,,,some people are too quick to critise...I use a topcoat supershiny but I do buff the nails and I find supershiny gives it a really nice shine. Come on how would you feel if that was you and someone kept asking you questions, how were the nails when she had finished??????
I would hate to know that someone had come to me had a treatment and then wrote about it to other's without giving me a chance to explain. If you were a client that had never had her nails done before would you have beeen happy?????

Why should questions be a problem? The girl asked me more question about my CND course.

Wow, I asked a question "Hello" isn't this the place to ask for advice from professionals?

Hi Geeks,

I passed my CND foundation course this week and fancied having a set of nail enhancements fitted by a CND Technician. OMG what a shock I got

I arrived at the salon and was taken to my grubby table. I asked the tech, it is CND that you are applying to my nails. Oh yes she said, our products are just decanted into small jars. a lot of technicians do this, personally I prefer to keep mine in the logo'd jars but each to their own.

So she started by filing my nail bed to remove shine, I asked, aren't you going to use cool blue and cuticle away? No, we don't do that here:eek: Ok,
Also a lot of technicians use different hand sanitisers I prefer Mundo gel to Cool Blue, and as long as you wash your hands then you could even skip this step. I personally wouldn't but If you didn't even get to wash your hands then yes I would say this tech did slip up a bit. Although you are shown how to use Cuticle Away in your Course, some people prefer to do a dry prep, I know I do, there is nothing wrong with a dry prep if you are thorough.

at this point I should of stopped her but curiosity got the better of me. She then fittted the tips straight after this, no scrub fresh in sight. I asked why they don't use these products as this was how I was shown/trained but she said there is no need to use all of that, its a waste of money:eek: so anyway I let her carry on.

Some form of nail cleanser & dehydrator should have been used, I am quite surprised at a Tech saying it is not necessary, but you don;t say if she used anything else just that she didn't use Scrubfresh.
She had a really strange technique at applying l&p but it seemed to work for her. Not everyone uses the zone1,2,3, method....I prefer the reverse application myself now after doing the 1,2,3, method for 10 years lol!!!

So after all 10 had product on she buffed with a 180 grit(from Sallys) You can use any files you want bought from wherever you want even if you are CND trained lol ;) to smooth, this was the only grit she used the whole time. Good for her, I also favour the 180 grit, as my application is usually smooth enough that I don't need a heavier grit file, then I finish off with a 240 grit, I don't like the white blocks but they are a 240 grit, so nothing wrong with that. Applied Solar Oil used block buffer and asked me to go and wash my hands. I came back and she finished with a top coat.
Loads of tech's finish with a topcoat....some even go straight to a Gel topcoat after using the 180 grit file and charge you EXTRA for that!! Nothing wrong with that either.;)

I know you have just finished your training, and yes it is commendable that you have picked up on some things here that you would do differently, good for you.

We are all human we all have off days, maybe this tech has had back to back appointments all day and didn't get a chance to wipe her desk down before you sat down. I am not condoning that but I do like to give the benefit of the doubt. She has sat chatting to you, doing your nails, and has been open and honest about her training, at the end of the day she does have salon experience after her training and that is where a lot of things are learned (the hard way!!)so she doesn't deserve to have it all turned against her. You have had excellent training, but passing your Foundation Course is a bit like passing your driving test, yes you need to stick to all the health & safety issues and basics you have been taught, but you do also learn more when you are out their actually 'doing it!'.IMHO.

Good Luck to you.

No u haven't upset me I was just saying didn't no if I had missed the point!!!!!!

Ok well this is very common thing to do for a brit. I find that in different contries people act different. I find in america (west coast) if somone was doing somthing they shouldnt be, they say things like omg what are you doing?
And stop the service and walk out. But us brits are famous for sitting there and not saying anything. Then we go home, have a good moan and then call up the salon and complain.
Why do we do this?
Lol
