Can anyone reccomend a reflexology training site?
I dont fancy a 9 month college course but if needs must!!!?
Anyone who knows a training site thats been recommended pls let me know! Xx

the thing with reflexology is that there is so much to learn and remember that you would be better off doing a longer course imo, if your thinking about one day courses or even week long courses they aren't really suitable and will only give you a taster of the treatment. Its such a powerfull therapy that you really do need to know what you are doing and what you are working on. I trained with ITEC which gave me good basic knowlege, i have been a reflexologist for 6 years and i'm still finding out new things now. sorry i can't be of more help to you. x

I'd agree with the above poster. There is a huge amount to learn with reflexology and the longer the course the better. I notice that you're in Cheshire - the Christie Hopsital do an amazing reflexology course that I could definitely recommend. Good luck wherever you decided to learn.

I have been trying to find a local reflexology course and all of the colleges in my area have actually cancelled the courses which I think is a disgrace they say it's out dated now :s

helen3...cardonald college do an evening course on Reflexology...I know it's a bit of travelling but well worth it xxx

Fantastic thanks will call them in the morning :) xx

I agree with the other posts. I qualified doing a 12 month college course 10 years ago and I'm gobsmacked that there are weekend courses on offer! There really is so much to learn that you just wouldn't be able to offer a good service after a weekend course. Go for the proper course and you won't regret it! It's a lovely treatment to do, and clients love it! Good luck. x

Hi Girls
We offer a 5 day course of study in Reflexology Techniques (VTCT). It can be done at your own pace i.e. space the 5 days out or a really intensive week. I recommend people come back after completing cases studies for assessments - both written & practical, so it fits in with your needs. It's hard work, but I guarantee no-one would ever leave here without feeling 100% confident or competent.
I have been teaching for over 25 years and am committed to providing high quality courses. There is a huge amount to learn but in my experience getting on with the case studies & subsequent client really develops the skills. I am still learning myself - every time i perform a treatment and long may it continue!

Interested... Where are you based?

The AOR is the lead body for reflexology in the UK. They require a minimum of 100 contact hours (teaching) over a minimum of 9 months duration followed by a theory exam.

One way to look at it is if you were the client what would you want. A professional who had attended a well structured programme of learning over a number of months during which time they had learned and developed experience or someone who had attended a short course and walked away with a certificate.

Amen! I spent a school year training as a reflexologist, and my case studies alone took months of research, treatment, reflection on treatment, understanding when/how to stimulate/sedate a point etc; and some of my findings and experiences during that time were so profound! I wouldn't have traded that hands-on time under the supervision and guidance of a qualified tutor for anything.

I loved learning new techniques so much that I then went on to take post-grad specialist courses with Denise Tiran in Caring for Pregnant Clients, and Reflexology for Pregnancy and Birth.

IMO a short reflexology course can only really offer you a very watered-down version of reflexology... foot massage with a few points pressed, anyone?!

I have to agree that I don't feel I would have felt confident doing reflexology if I hadn't done a longer course. I took two years to do my foundation (though that was part time as I was also working full time). It then took another year to get my clinical reflexology qualification. Time well spent!

I personally think it is a disgrace that you can qualify in something like reflexology in such a short amount of time. A two day jobby just isn't going to give you the knowledge and understanding. Most people can learn to do a simple foot massage but reflexology is sooooo much more than that. It takes practice practice practice and continued mentoring over months not hours from a great teacher to really master it and understand.

It is such a great therapy, just wish I did more of it!

I took the ITEC route. I studied at the Wilbury School in Brighton with an amazing tutor who was so knowledgable and real inspiration.

hi everyone
i haven't been on here in ages. I am also looking for advice on a good reflexology course. im in norfolk and really want to get out of my 9-5 office job and build a career for myself. Main interest is reflexology but im confused by all the short courses on offer. i cant seem to find a course that is longer than 14 days spread over a few months! i have planned to do my A&P course in meantime to start my learning and think the Guild seems to be best place for that. PLEASE can anyone help with a recommendation in Norfolk area. i dont mind travelling a bit to get there but cant go to far due to pennies!!:|

x

Hi Pink Princess
Please have a look at my website HaVe Training - Courses and Training - Beauty and Holistic Training Courses for courses in Norfolk.
I respect the replies from the other ladies regarding length of training, but I give you 100% assurance that you will not leave our training course feeling anything less than 100% competent. I simply wouldn't allow it, nor would VTCT. I would be happy to put you in touch with past students. :)
