Hi geeks! Quick question, when removing cuticle removers etc from the skin after prep, do you ask the client to wash it off their hands or just use scrub fresh? What soap would you recomend to take to the cleint houses for them I get them to wash their hands but im worried the cheap soaps atc will put oils onto the nail plate and be causing lifting. Is it true that scrub fresh alone does not get rid off all the cuticle remover or am I wasting my time getting the cleints to wash their hands atall? xxx

Hi Sarah

You need to neutralise the cuticle remover.I have a small spray bottle (travel size) with a mix of water and a CND Scentsation hand-wash. Just quick spray over the nail with a tissue or couch roll underneath and wipe off. Then use your Scrubfresh.

CND teaching, Sarah, is that Cuticle remover needs to be removed with any Scentsations hand wash and water or the wash from the spa manicure system. Stick to your system. Scrub Fresh will not remove all the Cuticle Remover. Did you do your training with CND?

Hi

I have judt completed a one to one training day with cnd and I was told to get a bottle with a pump lid full of citrus soak and water, and apply this to a handsdown wipe and thoroughly scrub the whole nail especially near the cuticle. This will get rid of the cuiticle remover that you have used. I hope that this helps. Abi

Personally i just have my citrusoak in my 'toolbox :)', I just pump some onto my clients hands and ask them to give their hands a wash, giving the fingernails a good scrub.. But i LOVE the idea of a little pump with citrusoak mixed with water!

I would actually advise you to learn about the different kinds of cuticle removers available on the market and make your removal method in line with whichever type you choose to use in your service (which should also be what is advised by the supplier). Some need water to neutralise them, and some are suitable for removal just by thorough wiping or cleansing.

There is an excellent article by Marian Newman ('Mum' on here) in this months Scratch which deals with the subject of cuticle (and removal!) as a whole and even for a seasoned tech is packed full of great factual info! Well worth a read!

Hi della!! Yeh I did my training with cnd but i was getting them to wash their hands with normal soap!! I will get the scensations on the go!!!xx

I use the cuticle away, then if any there's a lot left I wipe with a tissue first, then I use a spray bottle with citrus soak (nice to hear you can use scentsations wash too).

I use cheap washcloths from Ikea, that I have cut in half (and sown to keep from splitting, not the right word but hope you understand), they are very thin and you can really scrub the nail free from the cuticle away residue even into the lateral folds, and because it's cloths they won't breake, and I can wash them and re-use....

I would recommend going Creative all the way on something like this, it presents well and makes you look more professional.

Always put the bottle of Citrusoak on your table (so they can see it), then when it's time to wash, give them some and explain what product it is, then they will understand you are not cutting and corners on being cheap.
