Renting a beauty room!! PLEASE HELP!

Hi Guys Im new to salon geek and could really do with your help.
I have been offered a room (3.25m by 2.5m) in a brand new hairdressers. There has been no previous hairdressers/beauty here, in fact its a completely new development, so we have no idea what the custom will be like.
I have been asked for £100 per week plus on top of this 15% of my overall wage per week. They have told me that this is the usual, but everyone I have spoke to has disagreed? Has anyone ever been asked the same or paid the same? Do you think this is reasonable??

It does seem a bit cheeky to ask for both rent and a percentage of your takings. Think it the norm to ask for one or the other.
What would you receive from the salon in return ?
Would the owner maybe considering upping your rent and not take a percentage. xx

yeah it one or the other!!
you need to find out if they buy all products and stuff, coz otherwise you will not make a penny after paying them rent plus 15% plus stock! plus your tax and N.I!!
also if they are gonna advertise for ya coz that costs,,,,,,,,,
i personally wouldn't do it!

no its not reasonable, have they told you what they are going to give you??? if they say ok they will supply this and that, that control is out of your hands which is not a good idea if your self employed, you dont want to be relying on anyone if you can help it, and i can bet you down the line you will be struggling to get supplies out of them, either they will forget to order or the boss wont be around to sign the cheques etc etc and if you want to change products they will complain, girl dont even go there......
you either pay rent or a percentage not both, they are asking alot of money for a place that is completely new, i dunno i just see "red flags"

I have provided all of my own furniture, decorating materials and all of my own stock, including retail and promotional material. I have also paid for my own priniting of price lists etc. They havent provided me with anything other than the room (bills inc) x

That sounds too expensive. I've never heard of that arrangement. It's either ent OR %......not both. xx

Errrr nope defo not heard of this one!!!!

If it was me and would have a look else where like an existing business, just call into salons face to face in uniform take some business cards copies of certificates and some recommendation letters from your clients.

Look your best hair, nails etc, you know what they say first impressions count

£75-100 all in for a beauty room

Never heard of this arrangement. A fixed rent payment would be better than a variable one.

Since the room is in a brand new hairdressers, it will be very difficult for you to get new clients initially or referrals from the hairdresser. Consider how this will effect how much money you can bring in and how much rent you can afford.
