Yeaterday I did a custom blend reverse method on myself with EZFlow and I have to say I love it !. I stopped doing any kind of french on me as my nails grow sooo quickly you could soon see the smile line.

Anyhooo, How would I do the reverse infil without a drill ?

I like to keep my nails a just little longer than working length so dont want to lenthten my nail as I think it looks silly to have a long nail bed and hardly there free edge,, I thought about geeg's clipping method but my hyponichium is quite low. To have a nice looking french I have to use the custom blend behind my natrual smile line, so obviously cant clip back that far.

any ideas gratefully recieved !

Easy ... the way I do it .. :green:

just gently clip off the zone 1 area ( I use nail clippers not those one cut things)

and then file the edge of zone 2 into a beautiful smile line.

Apply a sculpting form and re-sculpt the new zone one back to the new smile line.

Some then overlay with a tiny bead of clear to meld the 2 zones together ... I don't myself do this as I reapply also at zone 2 and meld them in that way.

Very quick and very easy and no need to use a drill.

Thanks for your swift reply !

I suppose I would have to use the traditional method if I wanted to place the white slightly below the natrual smile ?

Not if you are using opaque powders which I thought was what you were doing and asking about in this instance.

If you are looking for instructions on how to perform a French rebalance on a normal P&W application then go to the tutorials section and find my tutorial there on re balancing. It explains the French re balance without using a drill there.

Thank you again for your reply

I proberly havnt explained myself correctly, I have in my mind what I mean but cant put it into words ! I do pink and white rebalances the traditional way on 99% of my clients and am very happy with the way they look I, just liked using the of the reverse method. On my nails because they grow sooo quickly I like to place the white a bit further down. To keep the balence of the nail I place the white just below the natrual smile line and so obviously cant clip back that low.

I think I'l take a pic of the nails to explain better !:)

If you are using opaque powders then just prepare the nails as per norm for a rebalance take down your zone 1 and blend your zone 3 de bulk apex, then instead of starting in z1 start in z2 or3 depending if you use 1 or 2 beads. Then do z1 last. I still use forms when doing a rebalance most of the time as I feel I can get all the nails looking the same again as sometimes some are dif lengths, as clients hace habit of getting the file out or even nibbling there nails into all kinda weird and wonerfull shapes, iygwim lol xxxx

Found this picture maybe it'l show what I mean better than words ! (although I think katiebaby might have hit the nail on the head.)

I cant see how I could do a reverse infill without a drill if I want the white in front of the natrual smile like on this pic !?

Well actually katiebbabby has explained

You do the pink first (after preparing as normally) then white. If you look at it as on your picture, instead of drilling in the smile, yiu thin down product andt sculpt a smile line in pink...

Have you had a good look at Young nails website? I'm almost sure there is a video on there showing this without drilling. It might not be a rebalance (prob a new set) but technique as almost the same:hug:

No hun you dont need a drill, just place your smile line with your pink bead where you want it even if it is below your natural smile line what does it matter, weather it is trad method or reverse your white powder is opaque so therefore you will not see under it iygwim lol. During a rebalance your smile line is always placed back where you originally put it so therefore if you put it below your natural smile line, then just put it right back there again like you would trad method rebalance. Hope this makes sense xxx

Ah thanks Kate !

place the pink, shape a nice smile, then white ?

After 2 days of trawling through Salon Geek I found the perfect explination for what I was looking for from susie H !

Well it depends:)
And you don't really need to file down or cut of zone one.
OK I'm faced with a prepped nail, at this point I have to decide if I'm extending the natural nail bed or not. If not I pick up my bead apply to zone 3 while holding the finger in a slightly downward angle and gently use my brush to push/pat the product down to zone 2. While my product is still soft I shape my smile with my brush. When completely hardened if I need to I shape with my file and then I fit my form and my first bead for zone 1 is small and clear. This is so that when it comes to re balance time I can take zone 1 down to my clear level and add what ever colour I want over the top.
Now when it comes to changing my nails or doing a re balance I file down as for any other service, taking zone 1 down to clear. Then I apply as before, zone 3 into zone 2, create my new smile with my brush, then zone 1. If zone 1 goes over zone 2 and my smile, no problem when I file and shape my smile line is reveled when I get rid of the excess product.
If I am going to extend my nail bed then I fit the form first, and bring my bead down on to the form and shape the smile the same as before.
I hope this explanation is clearer to you then it seems to me and I hope it helps:lol:

LOL thats what we have been telling you to do, glad you found out then

I had a go at this application method last night on my nail trainer and was very happy at how quickly I did it and at how the smile went up into a point at either side without having to do a 3 bead white :)

So tonight I started wondering how I'd do a rebalance, I know some people cut off zone 1 but I like to have my natural nails underneath and I know some clients wouldn't be happy with me doing this either. I don't have an e.file so I did 2 fingers differently and separately and timed each one:

1) I quickly thinned down zones 1 and 2, re-applied zone 2 first so that I could continue the reverse application method and then stopped the timer whilst I waited for it to cure. Then I re-started it and filed/finished the nail.
2) I filed a smile into the nail slightly higher than the existing one, applied zone 1 first using the 3 beads to get nice crisp points and then a tiny bit of pink to fill in the slight gap. Stopped the timer and waited for it to cure, re-started the timer and finished the nail.

The first way worked quickest for me by a whole minute which is a lot per nail, so I think I'll be sticking to this method. I guess if you weren't doing a 3 bead white application then the timings might be the same but as I said I don't want rounded edges to my whites (yes I know it's minimal but I'm picky).
