Can anyone help I've had two shelf units painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint and somehow from towels etc it has absorbed oil and has stained. Tried painting over it but won't soak up/hide it. Any tips to cover it??

Did you wax it??

It may be damp patches
You can either keep painting it, try clear nail polish or I think someone said shellac

Few weeks back I put a wanted post on Freecycle asking for preloved furniture. A lady contacted me today and I'm going to be picking this up tomorrow...

Slightly freaked out about the size for a first project, where I'm store it and how much it's going to cost me :D but what a beautiful piece of furniture. The lady I believe is doing a house clearance for her Dad that;s passed away, she told me her parents bought the dresser in 1966 and when I told her what I wanted to do, she was really pleased. Here's hoping I can do it justice.

What a great idea. I will definitely do this once I move xxx

When you buy such big furniture how do you get it to your house??

When I brought my first house I couldn't find a dressing table I like so brought a 3 draw pine one off eBay and painted it a glossy black. I found some gorgeous clear acrylic rose knobs and put them on.
Looked fab but 6 months later i still haven't finished the stool!

Well it got in the car and I've now brought it home and put it in my bedroom where it's going to go, once i can sort the kitchen out and put the tumble dryer in there. It wasn't as huge as I thought, so that's good.

Also while I was there, the lovely lady offered me this...

Love this! Going to start off with this first, little smaller to begin with. :D The lady has asked me to keep her number and send me pictures of them both when I'm done. She's really pleased as they were her Mum and Dad's who recently passed away.

Fab love it, what colour have you used?

I used graphite as a base colour, then Emile, then used the clear and dark wax and painted the drawers inside Florence and then clear waxed
