Hello,

I'm new to this forum. I have an urgent question about shading: a cliend has asked me to shape legs, abs and breasts.
Does anyone have tips about how to do that?
I just pretended I knew what to do... But I really don't!
So any tips are welcome.

Thanks, Julia

I'm not totally sure but I think it depends which gun etc you use as most basic ones can't do the contouring.
I'm sure someone with more experience will be able to help you or correct me if I am wrong .

I tend to use my hvlp machine for the full body tan then switch to an airbrush for contouring....which machine do you use??

xx

Thanks for your replies. I only have HVLP... So no shaping/contouring possible with that? You'd have to switch machines during the treatment?

Are there any basic rules or tips, i could try if they work with HVLP ... and then see if i'd need to buy an airbrush too. Since clients keep asking me for it....

Hope you can share any experience with me.

Thanks...

You will really need a small pencil airbrush gun...there not expensive....simply go a shad up and using this gun and working close in simply follow the contours(or where they should be)of the body and draw lines so to speak to accentuate (shadow) muscles(abs, breast etc etc)
Once complete then do the full body spray tan application using the clients normal DHA % and job done

It does take a bit of practice to get the hang of it but its really not that hard...I really wouldn't go strait in and do a paying customer strait away...best is to practice the technique on family and friends first before letting yourself loose on your customers.
This is a very good add on service to any spray tan business and particularly in the summer could bring you in some valuable additional revenue

Good luck and don't be afraid...just start playing around on people you know and you will soon be doing it commercially

Just wondering about a six-pack stencil. Wouldn't that be fab?!

Now that would be great!
Thanks for the tips.

I offer training in this and do a lot of clients with the shading technique. Depending on how defined you need the look you can use a HVLP gun using it in the quarter to ten to four position. Keep your gun very low and work closer to the client always defining the areas in a higher shade.

It is more ideal to use an airbrush but if your experienced enough with a HVLP you should be fine. A simple stripe down the middle of the clients leg in a darker shade is enough to elongate them. You can also hide double chins too. Just shade areas you would with makeup.

Practise makes perfect.

I love the idea of trying this, I only have an hvlp but will give it a try, do you do the two sprays on the same day or do you do the normal spraytan then contour the next day??x

This is a lot easier than it seems and just takes a bit of giving it ago.
If you only have an HVLP turn it down,go in close with a darker %DHA than the customer would normally have...do the shading......let it dry and then do the full body spray with their normal solution.

Most certainly before going commercial with this practice practice with family and friends...maybe give the hubby a full six pack....could change his/your life LOL :lol::hug:

Lol Colin he thought he was in heaven when I did deep tissue massage course and came back and practiced on him,:) A six pack, well what more could the man want from his wife!!!
