Well as I will be soon training in nails I think I need to get my hands in order and for years have had the nasty habit or picking at the skin around the nails slightly! So my question is how can I heal the skin so my hands and nails will look fawless? Thanks guys.

Go to a creative nail salon and treat yourself to some solar oil and solar butter,
use the solar oil on and around your nails 2 to 3 times daily and use the solar butter when you have had your hands in water and last thing at night and you will see a big difference i promise,
good luck with your training hun

Brilliant thanks, I am starting my training with CND so I should be able to pick up some then shouldn't I?

You will be able to buy those items from cnd now,
you just need to open a secondary account with them and when you have done your training they will upgrade it to a full account and then you can buy anything and everything,
you need to get them before your course and get your fingers and nails in tip top condition, all good enhancements need a good foundation to go onto hth

Why not treat yourself to a professional manicure and then buy some homecare products.
If you are going to be doing nail treatments you really do need to have your nails in decent condition, and we all love to be pampered don't we

You can order most things, the only things that you cant order yet are the liquids and powders for doing acrylic nails or any of the gels for the gel nails,
if you ring 0845 2106060 you can explain over the phone what you want to order and they will sort it all out for you,
while you are on the phone ask them to send you a product brochure and then you will be able to see what they sell and have the order numbers for next time you order anything hth

I am not a Creative trained tech, but have to agree that there is something special about solar oil. I say slosh it on to the tender picked areas.

Another great product is Guardian Angel ointment by Virgin Vie (and no, I am not a VV rep anymore so am not trying to make a sale). My husband is a doctor and swears by the stuff for minor cuts, abrasions, burns and skin trauma etc..... It is very soothing and has fantastic healing ability.

What do I do with the skin thats sticking up and picked at - do I just leave it or cut it or what?

You can clip the skin using cuticle clippers but i woun't make it a regular thing, just to get them in good condition.

I have the same problem. My instructor told me to get those cotton gloves, mix hand lotion and vasaline and smother my cuticles and wear the gloves at night to keep the moisture in. I can't wear gloves while sleeping, so you may want to try that. Sally Hansen has a cuticle cream that works amazing as well. Good luck :)

I would also recommend Creative's Rejuvenator. It's bloody good stuff! My eponychium had split and was very sore. After just *two days* of using Rejuvenator it had healed and was back to normal! :green:

Here's what the CND USA site says about it...

WHAT IT IS:
A copper-peptide complex therapy for damaged skin.
WHAT IT DOES:
Copper helps restore the skin's ability to repair itself and aids in collagen and elastin development, helping to increase elasticity and firmness of the skin. Peptides; a protein carrier that bonds to copper and creates a complex that penetrates deeply into the skin. Allantoin provides soothing skin protection from damaging environmental elements. Panthenol and Aloe act as powerful moisturizers.
WHY YOU NEED IT:
To help speed and aid the natural repair process of damaged skin.

A regular manicure with a paraffin wax treatment might also help as well as using the home products x
