My other half spent an hour trying to dig the car our this morning before deciding it's just not happening. The news has given out severe weather warnings saying there's more snow to come this afternoon and to keep off the roads unless its absolutely necessary

The hairdressers cant get into the salon either, but one of them is trying to get up there to get the appointment books so we can ring people and re-arrange, my salon phone is diverted to my mobile so I'm hoping people will ring before they set off to see if the salon's open.

Anyone else stranded at home?

its snowing like mad here but think the roads are still passable.

I didn't have any appointments booked in today so rang today to say I wasn't going in, plus Master Chick is off with a headache today too, so worked out peachy.

No snow down in Cardiff, just lots of rain and arctic temperatures!

I love snow, please send it down here!!! xx

It was raining earlier in Worcester, but is now glorious sunshine, Im hoping were not going to have ANY snow lol, what a pain for you all up north, get the spades out and make yourself snowmen, have a comp with the best dressed/made snowman lol

One of the girls has managed to reach the salon, I only had two appointments in anyway, one of which is notorious for not turning up, so I've re-arranged the other one, and now I can enjoy a day at home:green:

It's lovely actually because all the schools are closed and you can hear all the kids outside having fun in the snow, I think every kid should have a day off school cos of the snow as a childhood memory.

still snowing!!!!

school hasn't been closed, but Jack is home with me 'poorly'!
It is such a luxury sitting here in my PJ's nowing I haven't got to venture out (although that last bit was said in a whisper as the dog doesn't know yet)!:green:

schools closed here too , dave set off to work at 6.30 it usally take him 30 mins or so took him nearly 1hr and half , lol
we have made a snowman , james got cold , so started crying , came in had hot chocolate and hes now back in his jammies on the playstation snuggles up in his bed ,
hopefully he will stay there all day instead of driving me mad , lol

poor olivia is poorly and then she slipped on the wet floor and managed to cut her finger (gos knows how when she was in the house ) so shes all queit and pathetic , saying she needs the hosipal  (bless her shes only 2 )

Snow?! We have our micro-climate here! We're too posh for snow unless we order it in for a special occasion ;)

Only rain and puddles here today...

Hope it carry's on raining to be honest or we will be ice skating to school tomorow....

its just about stopped snowing now, but the school has just been closed.
got a call from the secretary to ask me to pick Jack up, then she remembered......he's already home, so we had a titter.

well we nearly have a full house here at work... Ring Road is nightmare but over the tops is brilliant as no traffic... my red fire engine can plough through anything!!!

How much snow have you had? We've only had rain and a smidge of snowflakes that melt so far, here in Montreal.
But.. it's coming... we'll get whacked at Xmas probably and it'll stay until June

Hope you're all safe and sound, and that it melts soon as I know you all aren't as prepared for snow like we are.

Sleet and rain at 6.30 this morning as I was dragged out of my bed, by my daughter :irked: to take her on her paper round!!!!

At the moment its wet a bit of sunshine and a dark sky!!!

If it SNOWS tomorrow there is NO WAY that Im taking her on that bloody paper round!!!!:)

I can't think of anything that would prepare me for 6 months of snow!

well there is no snow here down south :(

Awww no snow here!!!

How rude of it not to snow where I live I soooo want it too. xx:irked:

You REALLY don't want the snow I get. If you do a search, you'll come across threads with pictures of the snow we get. It's INSANE.

This is a video I did from our front window last year, BEFORE we got the big hit of snow....

YouTube - Snowing In Montreal

After that, it got worse.

I know it's hard for you guys, as you aren't prepared in terms of snow removal equipment, and proper attire, and winter tires..... but I really do get a giggle out of your suffering and I'm so sorry, but it tickles my funny bones how difficult you all find it.

That video of snow... we were still going to work/school/shopping and whatever other everyday stuff there is. I don't have chains on my tires and I don't drive a 4 x 4 truck, and I drive through it. Nose plastered to the window, wipers going at top speed, dressed like an inuit:lol:
I'd LOVE for one of you to come in February for a visit and you can have a real good look. It's rather insane and I sometimes wish I lived on your side of the big pond because I REALLY HATE snow!!!!!

Victoria you have no idea how completely 'unprepared' our country is for ANY type of weather. If it rains too much - we get flooding. If it doesn't rain we get draughts (but the stupid thing is... how can that possibly be when we get so much rain???) and if we get snow... well... it all goes to hell in a hand basket!!

People can't drive - we don't have proper gloves. All we have is UGGS and they're not water proof so they're useless in this type of weather (although they are great as slippers...)..

But it's fun watching kids sledge!!!

Crikey:eek:

I wish we had snow here it would defo feel like home, lol.

Its not bad up here today as opposed to yesterday I had to do a Geisha walk to get to my car and then i had no luck opening the door, lol, had to get in via passenger side, what a laugh!

Unprepared is the exact word, Samantha. Back home it gets up do -20 in winter and i remember when i was wee mum used to attach cheap cheese greaters to the bottom of boots so we will not break our necks on the ice, lol!

You are so right Samantha - we have probably had at least 5 or 6 inches of snow overnight! None of the roads have been gritted, all the buses have been cancelled, no post, no schools open or anything!

Hubby was meant to be flying to Belfast first thing this morning, but the taxi driver wouldn't drive up the hill - which didn't really matter, because all the flights for the morning were cancelled!

It was lovely looking out of the window before it started to thaw - it looked liked something out of Narnia! Just waiting for the "Wicked Witch" to come out of the distance on her sledge
