hey everyone
i am having a problem with the spray tan gun. i just get it set just right for me and it sprays perfect for about 10 seconds and then the spray goes so light that it almost disapears entirely and then BOOM a big splat of solution comes out and then the spray is too much and i need to re set it then it just starts all over again. it took me 40 mins to spray my friend today with all the faffing about. imagine if that had been a client? i am so fed up i feel like giving up, 1st my machine went on fire and now this. i have contacted the company i bought it from earlier but they have not got back to me yet, although they were far from helpful the last time i contacted them so i wont be holding my breath!!!!
do any of you have any idea what could be happening?
thanks
"a very fed up elle"

Dont be fed up. You cant give up! It sounds like your gun is blocked. Have you taken it apart to clean it? How long have you had it? If it's new it could be faulty x

If you have the HV5008 make sure that you have got the pick up hose on the right connector in the lid. It should be connected to the one nearest the trigger. The 5008 does have a tendancy to do just what you have described if pick up tube isn't connected correctly.

what machine is it Elle??

hey
its a hvlp VIP. i used to spray tan in the salon where i worked but i went on my own about a year ago and i have just slowly but surely been buying everything i need. to be honest although i know how to tan someone i dont know much about the machines the guns. the gun came with the machine and tent etc all as a kit. it doesnt look like it all comes apart, at the training the trainer said to maintain it you just rinse the gun under warm water and you dont need to take it apart, i wouldnt even know how to. i bought the whole kit from a very reputable tan company, but since i have got it home and had these problems they have not been the best to deal with shall we say. any help would be brilliant.
thank you

is this the gun

no its a pretty basic gun, its all plastic (black) with a white cup, no markings on it just plain. the part where the spray comes out is metal, brassy looking, not very good at this am i?

its no problem Elle...lets try and get this sorted.
Can you either give us a specific model number or post a picture...or if you want to call me up sometime tomorrow I will happily try and talk you through how to adjust it...all guns are adjustable and or repairable..well mostly anyway

Sounds like the little piggy to me!! If so, Elle does it have the high med low settings on yours?
Is it still under guarantee?
Hope you do get hold of the seller, as if your problem isnt a cleaning issue it may need replacing.

Good luck

hey steve
the machine does have high, med, and low settings on it, i think it is also known as the "piggie". but i dont think its the machine i think its the gun. i only just had the machine replaced after it went up in a smokey bang 2 weeks ago. touch wood, the machine itself has been fine so far but only used it a few times. its the spray from the gun, not consistant at all. hope i can sort it out.

Does the motor sound like its working hard/changing speeds when the spray pattern fails ? unfortunately as i have said in previous threads this machine was made for the american market and there voltage is a lot less than ours if you have burned 2 machines out then you may have high volts at home... british standard volts for is as low as 220 and can be as high as 253 If your in an area with higher voltages then the machines that are converted to run on the british system like yours just burn out :cry:
we now only stock the british made 5008 as the other Machines proved very very unreliable
One salon in Birmingham that had burned out 3 machines like yours had incoming voltage of 253 ... its totally acceptable and within legal limits
But the t100 and piggy could nt handle the slightly higher voltages

Elle...if your machine is basically new its probably worthwhile contacting your supplier...discussing the problem and see if they will effect a repair or replacement.
