It was the Nuress machine that I got with my tantrick training last year. So it would seem that the tanning companies are providing this to make the training more affordable.

This was certainly true in my case as I would not have been able to afford the training initially if I had to shell out for a more expensive machine. Having said that, I didn't actually start charging until I puchased my shadez machine. Not sure if it was just that I had my confidence by then or not but I didn't really like the nuress at all.

In fact I am having to use the nuress at the moment as my shadez had to be sent back (burn't out). I am also thinking of just biting the bullet and up-grading. When you start out it's really hard to know what to do for the best! I will see how I get on with Shadez in the meantime as I did really like this machine and was so disappointed when it broke.

Since taking over the Tantrick brand we have dispensed with the Nuress machine..it's very good for what/how much it costs but...well erm it's not for professional use at all...sorry to shatter any dreams here but if you are looking to set up as a professional then you should by a system that's just that.

One that is backed up with a guarantee and one which will cope with a reasonable volume of usage..

Within a few coppers machines are all priced the same from the different brands out there..some come with more bells and whistles but the basic price is very similar at the end of the day..

If you pay small bucks you get exactly what you pay for...a machine that can't cope with the job being asked of it.

Spend a little more now on a proper professional's machine ..undergo adequate training with a compny/brand that will fully support you through any difficulties you may face on the road to success....it is definatley going to save you money time and frustration in the long run

Sorry Sharon please forgive me for being direct but for the benifit of others...if you work out what you have paid for the two machines you purchased ...I bet you could have purchased a professional system..and it would still be working today...and you would not be needing to now upgrade to a professional system....that's effectivley two professional machines you have paid for
saving money in the short term alway's costs you more in the longer term

No problem Collin, I'm all for being direct!

I couldn't agree more. Only good thing about having bought the 2 machines is that fact that I do have a back up for emergencies.

You live and learn!:irked:

Bless you
You will at least have a spare machine available if you have a problem with your main machine.
Best of luck and keep spreading the

Well I have spoken to Sienna about this and apparently I am doing it all wrong. I am also wrong in thinking that the machine is not a professional machine she said 'we have lots of salons that have bought this machine, :eek:it is a very good machine even though you can buy it in Argos, :eek:you wouldn't have got the training if you had bought it in Argos (fair point there)!' However that frankly was not the bleeping point I was trying to make! I was told it was a professional machine I was getting and it ain't! I was also told it wouldn't matter what machine I was using, even if I did upgrade cos I was doing something wrong if it was streaking, which I freely admit I may well be doing but I think not having the notes to reread for 3 weeks really didn't help with my technique! And poss not havong a good machine! I know I am a person who really needs to practice something but I am also a person who needs instructions to follow! I didn't get anything for ages despite my begging them to send it to me! I only wanted a little email with an attachment! Poor me! They have however offered me further training (which I am hoping is free, I'm certainly not paying them again!) but what do you lot think? It is def worth taking the extra training but do I stay with Sienna who I frankly am very cross with or do I switch and get a different machine from someone else? I am rather reluctant to give them anymore money! Lol Lx

have you had any training manual atall?

when did you do your training?

do you think you need extra training??

how do you feel about your ability?

where you advised to go off and do so many models, whilst referring to the manual,
have you a trainer you can refer back to for help??

sorry lucy, just trying to get the full picture before i openly comment

I would recommene the T200.

have you had any training manual atall? I have now after lots of asking then a different person answered the phone and I had it 5 mins later by email, which was all I really wanted but I had to wait a week, by which time I had forgotten it all! I really have to work at remembering things which I know which is why I was so antsy about getting the manual.

when did you do your training? Only on 2 June which actually is only 2 weeks ago (how unreasonable do I sound, and feel!!) but I had to fight for that! They cancelled and didn't tell me so I was running around on sunday night trying to find the number of the trainer I had booked with to see what was happening. I did have training in the end but with no manual to back it up, it all floated out of my head! I am very blonde.

do you think you need extra training?? I don't know! I have followed the training manual (now I have it) or rather the routine in it to the letter so I don't understand why it is still not working. I must be doing something wrong.

how do you feel about your ability? I have no basis for comparison really. I don't know if it is me or what. the girl who trained me said the tan I did on her was fine (although the one she did on me was very streaky and patchy although I did drive home for about an hour afterwards so perhaps some wore off then, I don't know but I do know there was a big blotch on my tummy and very streaky legs

where you advised to go off and do so many models, whilst referring to the manual,
have you a trainer you can refer back to for help?? I did ring my trainer after the first one went wrong and the second wasn't too good but she said 'I've told you what to do' or words to that effect so I didn't ring her again! The implication was just to crack on with it but I have done about 12 models (all my friends and rellies in the area) now and each is better than last (my cousin loves hers and so does her flat mate!) but I'm still not sure about it all and I have run out of pale ppl! And confidence. It probably is me that is the prob and not the machine but its easier to blame the equipment rather than oneself! Lx

sorry lucy, just trying to get the full picture before i openly comment

I sound completely unreasonable now! It just feels like it was all so much longer ago than it was and that I have been fighting with this forever! TBH my probs started even b4 my training, if I hadn't already bought my kit, I would have cancelled my training and gone with someone else.

Hmmm actually putting into words like that makes me feel perhaps I am rushing things a bit. It feels like months ago I trained. I'm not in a real hurry to tan paying ppl, I just want my friends to look nioce and I feel bad that they don't! Does anyone understand what I mean? Lx:cry:

I use the mini mist i think this is or very similar to t200 and have no complaints i did eight people in a row the other day and it was fine, i have to big up tantric because they are there to answer any questions quite happily ( i mithered the life out of julie for the first few weeks) and the aftersales service is spot on. Good luck i hope you get it resolved soon

i dont think youre rushing things or being unreasonable

you paid for something so you want it end of?!!!
i think you have possibly got off on the wrong foot and maybe its all gone a bit pear shaped from there?

i had a tan on my training day and drove home for an hour and a half, and had no problems,
i certainly wouldnt have expected a tan done by an " expert" to be streaky and blotchy etc
did you prep correctly??

lucy love, only you can decide what you want or need from now on,
but i dont think you sound unreasonable
im a bit like you, i want it yesterday lol!!

i would certainly question the trainers lack of support though??!!

best of luck

I wonder if you could take up Collins offer of extra training. It is totally generic and you would be able to use your own machine.Maybe the trainer could then try it and see what she thinks and advise you.
It is difficult if you have never tried another machine to know whether it is you or the machine if you were nearer you could have a go with mine, maybe a nearer geek could help you.Actually im not that far away from you.

Hi...I really need help. I'm a Beauty specialist working from home and want to buy a spray tanning system. A lot of people are saying to buy the paint sprayer from earlex in argos (not the tanning machine) I don't know what to do. I can't afford any from salon suppliers just yet but really need to get one soon....please help!!! Can someone recommend a spray tan machine that wold be suitable for someone like me starting out.

I believe (i.e I was told and have not heard different) that the main difference between a paint HVLP system and a tanning one is the needle size. You will have a finer needle in a spray gun to give a finer spray. In theory therefore you could buy a professional paint sprayer, get a decent needle and you're sorted.

In the days whane the tanning companies charged you thousands for a HVLP gun this was a good route. Nowadays the cost of the guns has become much less and you don't pay mucjh of a premium so it works out cheaper to get a kit off a company.

The most sensible route is find a company that will sell you a good kit at the lowest cost and find a solution you like. If they are from the same company, fine, if not, no probs either.

Ultimately companies don't make that much on the equipment, they make on the tan and your customers will come back because of the tan so get the best tan at the best price.

Personally I would go HVLP on the gun as it makes for a quicker tan and bodies per hour equals profit.

Good luck

Mike

Well I don't think you sound unreasonable at all!! I did my training the day after you with a different company and machine, and I am already tanning clients and they are leaving happy.:)

It sounds like your training wasn't great, or supportive!, and you obviously have no confidence in your machine (I can understand why), and therefore the job you are doing.

If you go back to the same trainer do you think that you will come away more confident or not? If not then it may be best to try another company.

I can not believe how your trainer has treated you, that is not right at all,
the role of a trainer is to be there for the trainees until they feel confident that they don't need the trainer any more,
i check my emails and private messages on here every day to see if any of the people that i have trained are having any problems and if they are i spend as much time as is needed to help them out,
if i don't hear from them i ring them to check they are ok with everything, and it doesnt matter if it is 12 months down the line we are still here for them,
if they are still having problems no matter how long or quick ago then i invite them back free of charge, i ask them to bring in their equipment and a model and to spray the model in front of me so i can work out where they are going wrong and help them to correct this, so far this has always worked and it has always been a simple easy adjustment and the trainee goes off happy and confident,
hope you get it sorted hun, if not take Collin up on his offer, only the best trainers get to work for Collin you know, lol

it realy get's my goat up when people entering this sector go off and buy a fence spraypainting machine because it's cheap..then off to the cheapest company that will train them like chickens in a hen house.

After all this...they find themselves back at square one having spent out their hard earned savings ,with great expectations which are now shattered in tiny peices.

I wonder how many individuals there are each week that we don't hear about who ,after all this simply pack it in and the machine they purchased ends up gathering dust in the loft.

Such a shame...

So before investing in your buisness...have a good look around...ring all the many brands out there and ask as many questions as possible about their training, the best machine to suite your needs..what about after sales support for you when things go wrong.

Buying cheap at the offset could well cost you money in the long term :irked:..so dont waste it

Manufacturers do sell equipment as cheaply as possible and some, like us ,actually subsadise training to gain customers who if all goes well and with the right support actually succseed....if you succseed we succseed ..making a good two way partnership

For just yourself or to run a business. If its for a business id be spending a good bit more and also going with a reputable professional company so you get training, support ,recognition and are insurable.

Hi
I am also going to add spray tanning to my mobile beauty business but after reading through the forum I am really unsure of which system to go for. I saw a package for sale on ebay from 'shadez-spray tan' which is really reasonable compared to nsi (where I am going to do my training in a few weeks) Any advice would eb good guys
Cheers

As someone who was sold a machine that was not professional (in my defence I was told it was!) I would go for the most expensive you can afford and talk to your trainer about what they use and what you want to be using it for! I have now got the T200 which is lovely and is much easier to use and get good results with (although I do wish the cable was longer but as that is my only gripe I am well satisfied!) It was more expensive but it is a much better bit of kit! I can't tell you anything about any other machine but I can say don't buy anything in a kit that you can buy on its own in Argos! Lol Lx
