I'm doing the cnd complete course in september but i really want to do something else aswell? What would you say gets the most business/makes most money? Facials or spray tanning? X

I make more from spray tanning than facials x

Tanning for me xx

Have you thought of waxing?

Will consider waxing in the future but i want to do tanning or facials for now xx

I do everything and out of all my treatments, facials are the least popular. I think also the first thing they cut out if they can't afford xxx

I'd do tanning, quick & profitable. You don't have to invest in loads of different products like facials, less time consuming. And nails & tans go really well together x

I do far more facials than spray tans, but that is my market - 40 plus with money (mostly). However, I think that spray tans would sit better than facials alongside your other treatments. Hope that helps!

Def Tanning, as been said before its much more profitable and I hardly have anyone have facials now so stuff is just sat on shelf and will prob end up being chucked out!! People don't have the money and a facial is def a luxury

I think tanning it is :) whats the best brand? X

In my area people are charging as little as £12-14 for tans and I couldn't compete especially with the cost of a decent tan range so I've gone for facials instead as there is a lot more variety of facial treatments to offer after training ie. prescriptive, faith lift, skinbase microdermabrasion.

Good luck with what you decide xx

Taming goes well with nails xx

Tanning for me, I use Sienna X, have tried lots of others and i do also like Nouvatan but love Sienna x tans hth

Defo tanning, I use fake bake best brand of tan iv ever used!!! Xx

At this moment in time for my salon room I would say there both about the same. It's truly what your gut instinct tells you! I personally did facials first then moved on to spray tan both an excellent choice but ultimately it's the one you feel most confident with start with that one first! Hope this helps!

I'm having the exact same dilemma. I was thinking tanning but I live in Essex so there is a lot of competition and like Boop said some of them are very cheap so I was leaning towards facials but I'm still not sure :/

I make FAR more money from facials than I've ever made from tanning. The key to that is retailing. Rarely do I ever have a facial client who doesn't buy product!
I'm too old, arthritic and knackered to do 10 tans a day when I can make the same money from doing 2 facials.
Choose a skincare range where the products are salon exclusive and then you'll be assured that any retail product will have to come from you and not online/high street.

Facials for definite. People with more disposable income (i.e. slightly older clients) are more likely to want to look after their skin, there is so much competition with spray tanners but not as much with good facialists :)

Slightly off topic guys, just starting my research. I started as a nail tech and trained in other areas from there so I don't have an NVQ. I've had a quick look at courses just for facials and wondered how this works when I want to choose an order a skin care range? Thanks :)
