I sprayed 3 people last night with LA Tan two with 12% and one with 10%. One text last night saying her legs still looked white, so I told her to text this morning to let me know which she did saying they were too white and she wasnt happy so I have been back and sprayed her this morning with LA Disco. When I got home the other 12% had text saying that she had showered, moisturised and gone all patchy so I am off to see her soon :( Has anyone any advice, it's really knocked my confidence and I am supposed to be spraying on a pamper eve tonight!!!:sad::sad:

Pleassssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee! I've got to go to see the second woman soon :(

Hi,
I would imagine that the client had moisturiser on her legs and this created a barrier, that's why your tan didn't take.I dont understand why you would use DISCO though as she will have much darker legs now than the 12% you used on the rest of the body.DISCO is 17%.

When did the other client shower?Did she wait for the 8 hours after you sprayed her?I have never had anyone go patchy with the spray tan.I have had a client who applied her own barrier cream, who's legs were white the next day,she admitted she had rubbed the cream all down her legs when it should've only been applied to the knees, but I just re sprayed her with the same % tanning lotion and it matched lovely the next day.

I do feel for you, where did you do your training?

Ps I would offer to re do all of them complimentary.I am sure you will be fine tonight. Make sure you give the pamper party clients their pre care advice correctly, also I would apply the barrier myself.I tried letting clients do it and tbh it can cause problems as I have mentioned when they rub the cream in places we dont want it.

Ensure the clients leave the tan on for 8 hours and follow their after care.Do you have leaflets and do you need me to send you pre care and after care advice for tonight and for future ref?

I sprayed the lady all over with Disco but explained to her that still she would have lighter legs! Why did the legs not take as well as the rest of the body!

The second client said she exfoliated everywhere and I had told her not to mositurised so I dont know why she has gone patchy when she mositurised this morning plus she said her hands have gone orange! Should I re-spray her?

I trained with a local couture trainer and she told me to go and fine a product that I was happy with so I finally went with LA Tan which was great untill last night!

Ok,well I would imagine as I said in last post that the client rubbed either moisturiser into her legs or/and went over her whole legs rather than just the knees, this created a barrier,so when you sprayed her the legs remained white.

Did you pull back with the gun when doing her hands? Also are the hands tanned all over(palms included)?or just very dark?If she has tan on her palms she has either touched her body after being sprayed or you have sprayed over them accidently when doing the rest of the body.

Hands are difficult to master,I have finally got it myself,a lovely lady advised me to place my hand over the palm when spraying if worried about spraying the tan onto the palms.I did that initially when I first did my training until I was confident that I wouldnt spray her palms.

It is crucial that you only lightly spray the hands and pull back with the gun, otherwise they can go really dark and also will grab on the knuckles. The lient must be advised not to touch after being tanned or they can wear cotton gloves at night as it can be a problem when they are asleep.

As for the other client I would have a look at her first, you need to see exactly what the problem is.If she is really patchy then I wouldn't respray her or the patchy areas will just become darker.Did she exfoliate very gently after the tan was showered off or really go for it?Im wondering if she went a bit mad tbh.Did you give her aftercare advise leaflet to follow?

HTH a bit.

I used to use LA tanning about 8 months ago and i loved it at first then went off it as it was going orangy on i thought, so i dont really like the tan. but by the sounds of it she has moisterised her legs and has made a barrier, the other girl sounds as if she hasnt exfoliated well enough, there is no way that the tan could look good with the guide on and then you wash it off and its all patchy, i would have thought she hasnt exfoliated and then went for a shower and exfoliated and some of her dead skin has came off with the tan, only way it could go patchy underneath??.. if you want to keep these clients then give them a spraytan next week free of charge and tell them to do the proper stuff the night before, and then see how it turns out then.

That would be fab if you could would make sure that I am giving them the correct advice!

BEFORE YOU TAN

Exfoliate your skin
Get your skin really moisturised in the run up to your tan, moisturing at every given oportunity,if the skin is dry this will affect the result.
Do NOT moisturise on the day of your tan, this will act as a barrier.
Do not wear deodrant
Do not wax or shave on the day you come in for your tan,as you will have open follicles which could lead to infection
Wear dark, loose fitting clothing and remove all jewellery.

AFTER YOUR TAN

Do not shower or bathe for at least 8 hours while your tan developes.
Avoid swimming in chlorinated water as this will cause the tan to fade much quicker.
Showering or bathing for long periods of time will cause the tan to fade much quicker.
Moisturise regularly to keep the skin soft and help prolong the tan
Avoid touching the tan as it developes
Avoid any activities that cause you to perspire whilst the tan developes
Gentle exfoliation will help the tan fade more evenly.

HTH

Thanks for that Babs!

Also to throw some light on the problem I have just been to see the client and she was told by someone else not to shower for 24 hours! So she had got up and moisturised and still had the guide colour on hence the smudging! Made me feel better!!!:D

OMG the things these clients do! lol You may want to invest in some aftercare leaflets or make some up. Go through their aftercare whilst spraying them.
I have one client who does not shower her tan off for anything up to 4 days as she thinks it will last longer :grr:

Don't let this worry you for tonight! You will be fine xxx

Yes I have a couple of these too.I have told them and told them(I work with them)how it all works and that there is no point leaving the guide colour on for days and do they listen???........NOPE!!!!:D

Deleted my other reply about the smudging as misread

No thanks for letting me know, I appreciate the advice.

I'm still none the wiser as to why it has smudged when she has mositurised this morning though esp as she had fully exfoliated, had no moisturiser on last night, hadn't shaved etc, plus it was in her home so she was in a dressing gown before and after.

Her arm just had a mark on it like a stain, she said it had smudged her chest but I couldnt see that. Other than that her tan looked fab and she said that she was happy with the colour. I just dont understand the smudging!!

Nat,did she have smudging after she had showered or after she had moisturised herself and not showered?

I am a little confused hence why I deleted the other post I sent you?

If she used moisturiser and hadn't showered then yes she will be patchy until she showers.

If she moisturised then showered, but was patchy after then the moisturiser would NOT have caused this because the tan only developes up to 8 hrs and moisturising wouldn't affect the tan, once developed.

Maybe she had excessive dry skin,as long as she is happy now I would focus on future tans.We live and learn.I was pulling my hair out over the hands, but was given some fab advice and now have no probs at all.

Good luck xx

ha-ha that's why I was getting confused!

No she got up this morning, moisturised but didnt shower because someone else had told her not to for 24 hours rather than me telling her 8! She listened to me in the respect of getting up and moisturising but didnt listen to me saying to moisturise after a shower!!!

So yes she had moisturised but not showered! So that is what has caused the smudging is that right?

Ah yes,now I see lol.Nothing to worry about then really regarding that. :D

Phew!!! The first lady has also text since I re-sprayed her free this morning and said that she looks lovely and brown and is pleased so hopefully all damage is now rectified!!!

Actually a spray tan can keep on developing for 24 hours so it's best not to moisturise until you have showered :D

Yeah thats what I told her but instead of listening to me she listened to someone else and didnt shower just moisturised!!!
