I'm trying to decide what to retail in my salon. I already have the mini bottles of Solar Oil as a start...

I had thought of files, polish remover, cotton pads...

What are your most successful retail items, and where do you purchase them?

Dont forget to advertise gift vouchers! We all have relatives and friends with birthdays through thr year.

I think it depends on what you can promote. As long as their good quality, suitable for the client and your knowledge is good you can sell anything. Your probably better starting with the essentials such as solar oils, nail files, lotions and nail enamel.

You could buy mini products or get a good deal on products and make-up your own after-care kits and promote them as an offer. You could also put your after care card and maybe a 10% discount card to make it look like clients are getting a good deal.

I agree with the gift vouchers as people buy gifts all year round. If I have a special offer on I also encourage new clients to buy multiple gift vouchers for themselves so that they are getting a good deal and return, as my vouchers are valid for 6 months.

If you rely on products selling themselves you will probably not sell a lot!

the most popular retail item by a mile is the CND Solar Oil. about 90% of my nail clients walk out the door with it. 2nd would be the CND Sensations range, they are gorgeous. I finish all my hand and nail treatments off with a generous coating of their choice. and 3rd would be CND nail polish.

If i had to recommend one it would have to be Soar Oil, definately,x

and by the way never retail an item you yourself doesn't believe in.

I second that..You need to be enthusiastic and choose products suitable for that client. Any hard sales just to get a quick buck will result in losing the clients trust and prevent repeat sales. good luck x x

It's cheesy, but "facts tell, stories sell". If you use the products yourself you can talk from personal experience and the difference it has made. This is the best advertising possible!
