Hi there

I have recently started doing eyelash extensions and have tried a few different glues, finally settling on the level 3 extension glue by 3d lashes. love the glue, sets fast and lashes are lasting very well on clients.

Not sure if it is coincidence or the glue, but i have a really bad cough and blocked nose (viral infection symptoms) and know there is alot of bugs going around at the moment...my dad suggested it could be an allergic reaction to the eyelash extension glue? (as it does give off slight fumes...)

Was just wondering if anyone has experienced this with doing eyelash extensions?

Many thanks guys

xx

I use Glam Lash adhesive and have never experienced any issues with me or my clients.

can i ask, is this the first time you have had any kind of reaction or do you think you have been reacting on and off, like after each time you have been "lashing"? x

Hi there, you def can have a reaction to a glue as a Lash tech. I always, always wear a hygeine mask, but did have a reaction to a glue I was trying out about a year ago. I had a terrible sore throat and an irritated cough every time I lashed. I changed glue and was fine. Do you wear a mask? Def be worth adopting this policy if not:hug:

It seems you might be quite sensitive to fumes and / or odour? It might be worth a try to use a fumeless and odourless adhesive to see if that helps you?
Most therapists worry about the client but they have their eyes closed and its actually the therapist that has the eyes and nose near the adhesive.......
try it, it might help ... or maybe try wearing a face mask? ..

I have experienced that, but odour free adhesive has helped- me nor clients experience any irritation with odour free one..

I recommend Nouveau and Flirties adhesives. To date I have not experienced any reactions from clients or myself.

Sorry, nothing to do with whats being talked about. Just wanted to say WOW at your lash pictures!! Where about in london are you? xx

hi
i too get symptoms after i have been lashing. i get a blocked nose and my chest can get a bit wheezy. i suffer from these symtoms between march through to october due to pollen anyway, but noticed a dramatic increase when i changed my adhesive to a kind that dries VERY VERY VERY fast. the problem is i have tried so many adhesive's and i cant find a fast drying one that doesnt set my symptoms off so i just get on with it. so many adhesives CLAIM to be fast drying and they are just NOT. the last one i tried claimed to be a 3 second drying time and it was more like 15 - 20 seconds which when you are lashing away can really slow you down. anyway thats my adhesive moan done for the evening! well nearly - its just annoying i am sure i am not alone in spending a fortune on finding the right one, i love the adhesive i am using now apart from the symptoms, boo hoo :irked:

This is the problem - the faster drying / setting the adhesive is the more fumes and odour you are going to experience...Unfortunately its not possible to have an incredibly fast drying adhesive without this........

Hi, Thanks ! I'm based in Holloway :) xx

sorry for very late reply! have been a busy bee.

thanks for all your messages, i have tried odour free glues but as a couple of you said, they take longer to bond, adding time onto your treatment and results dont seem to last as long either.

i do usually wear a mask when doing lashes but it still seems to irritate...

guess i'll just have to grin and bear it!

xx
