Hi there,

I have been using Young Nails L&P lately.

I have no complaints so far, other than one lady who has started coming to me. I did a full set with no problems. The lady was back for infils at the weekend, and there was quite a bit of lifting (around the cuticle).

I am fairly new to nails, and to YN products. I did my prep as usual then applied protein bond, and continued as normal.

When I was chatting to the lady she told me her last Nail Tech used to have the same trouble with her nails. The last Nail Tech used to apply just monomer onto her nail plate and this seemed to help.

I did this, on her say so, just to see what difference this made. (no protein bond was used this time) but I have just spoken to her, and surprise surprise they have lifted.

Any ideas?

My prep routine is,
wash hands
spray hand disinfectant
apply cuticle remover
push back cuticle
remove shine from nail plate with 240 grit
wash hands
use nail antiseptic
apply protein bond

where am i going wrong, or is the clients nails the problem?? I dont have the same problem with other ladies...

Hi :)

I have used Young Nails quite a bit with no lifting whatsoever.

Dont quote me on this, but I think Young Nails recommend a dry prep, which is what we always did with this product, and you need to rough the nail up a LITTLE more than say CND.
When I say a little more, I mean a little, not saying to butcher the nail or anything.

Hope this helps you :)

Not sure about Young nails, as I have never used these but please, please, don't put monomer directly onto the nailplate. Monomer should never come directly in contact with the nail or surrounding skin and should only be used together with the powder.

Hope the educator can give you some tips, but don't forget there are some people out there who have problems no matter what you do so don't get too disheartened.

Cheers,
Hazel

Just agreeing with femmefan. Never EVER put monomer on the nailplate or the skin. You're just asking for a reaction xx

Hi Honey

Just got you PM

I Have had a wee look at your prep routine and here is mine:

1. Wash hands/ Cleanse (Which is a no water anti bac cleanser)
2. Use Magic wand to push back cuticle and remove any attched to the nail plate.
3. Etch the surface of the nail plate to remove surface shine only.
4. Use swipe to dehydrate nail plate and to remove dust/debris when dry it sould look chalky.
5. Apply protine bond this should look stick unlike primer which usually looks chalky.
6. Apply pink in reverse application to all ten nails the white to all ten.

File and shape all 10 nails wash hands and dry hands to remove dust etc.

Use swipe on all 10 nails to remove any excess oil/dust etc apply finish gel.

If you have any further probs you can contact me by PM and I will give you my salon details and you can give me a wee call there.

I am only to happy to help were I can

Hope this info helps

I'm just finishing school now, so I don't know anything about other products besides NSI and CND. But I noticed you didn't mention a dehydrator, and according to my instructor, that's a big deal. And without doing it you will get lifting. Oh ya and pure acitone works as a dehydrator but only use it occasionally because it's not good for the nail to use it all the time. I could be wrong though! :green:

Well thank you all for your replies.

I had a fair idea that putting Monomer directly onto the nail was a no no, but my client insisted, so this was done with prior warning to the client that I would be taking no responsibility for any reactions. :|

I was taught in my gel course that the nail antiseptic was all I required as far as a nail dehydrator was required, so that is all I use. Obviously I should get my hands on some then. :green:

Thank you, luckily it takes more than some lifting to get me down, more of a challenge really to get the job done properly! Luckily the client is very easy going, and is clearly prepared to try anything in order to have a lovely set of enhancements.....just have to keep keeping on!! :D
