UV gel top coat?????

I am having problems with UV gel top coat, my trainer said you can put this over any nail varnish to give a longer life, I have done it now on two customers and within hours it is coming straight off there nails bringing all there nail varnish too inc base coat!!! or bits are splitting off........................what am I doing wrong????? I am curing it for approx 3 mins in a uv lamp

The problem is most UV top coats are not suitable for use over nail polish, they need either a sticky dispersion layer or a refined nail surface to adhere to. Nail polish offers neither of those things so gel top coat isn't suitable as you've found out.

You're trainer is not correct in this case.

Thanks for the reply..........another thing I have found out not to be right from her!!! is there anything out there to put over varnish to keep it on any better or longer

If your after color that lasts try shellac Hun.

As for polish then good quality base color & top coats are essential and other wise what are your steps when you polish?

Maybe something your doing is not making it last so long as you would like?

Problem is I have put myself through many courses all with 'attended' type certificates but guild approved courses, a lot of campanies wont let me buy from them which makes it hard, again I have only been shown to use good quality products which I use OPI to polish nails

ezflow do a topcoat called speed finish which you can cure under a UV light...i found this quite a good topcoat for over enamel.

IBD also do a UV top coat which can be used over the natural nail or enhancements x

A light buff over the nail (if necessary) and then polish remover would do the job.
