i posted a chit chat this morning JOY' re my friend giving birth by CC and not knowing she was 7 months pregnant..........all doing well i'm glad to say.

i went out for a ride at 10.30 this morning with an older lady friend-maureen is 59,
by midday she was being airlifted to hospital after a nasty fall from her bad mannered pig of a horse:mad:
after a nice collected canter the thing tanked off and poor maureen had no way of pulling him up!!! she had lost a foot out the stirrup and, off balance, when he shot to left, leaving her to go out the right door............i watched helplessly all in slow motion, and all over in a matter of seconds. i thought she was dead or broken her neck.
i'd pulled up my horse, and he was a good boy didnt get excited.

i galloped over to where she lay in the bushes.......
maureen are you alright, maureen, Speak to me!!!
she groaned, good she's alive.
her horse had gone off, not far a road, i had to get him.
maureen i shouted, stay perfectly still do not attempt to even move, just lay as you are, i am going to get Alfie. but by this time her horse was on his toes through the woods.
i went through to the next field and bellowed at some men fishing to go help my friend, and raced through the woods to get her horse, thinking, Dear God i hope i dont come off by getting wacked by a branch, or shove me off by wacking me knees.
there he was - trotting up towards me, i caught him, GIT!
people living close by came out to help
We phoned for an ambulance, and the stables to let her friend know.
.

i am know waiting to hear what sort of state she is in!!!!!

and all she was worried about was Alfie!!!!!!:!:

So not only will i be up there visiting baby with no name and mum, and now maureen.
what a day!!!

OMG, how many more of these shocks can you take in 24 hours? I hope Maureen isn't too seriously hurt and that she recovers quickly.

The horse I ride is a cantankerous old git, that pulls like a train and doesn't look where he's going, although he hasn't managed to ditch me yet!!

Hope Maureen gets better soon, you know what they say 'when you fall off the horse you have to get straight back on - if you can find him!!'

GOOD LORD WOMAN!!! Ever thought about writing a book??

I am not superstitious, but I think you should grab a rabbit's foot, 4 leaf clover, some elephants figurines, with the trunks UP, mind you and anything else you can find just to be on the safe side!

I am so glad that your friend is doing well!! You must have been just terribly shaken, I don't think I would ever want to see a horse again if I were either one of you!

Hi there - I know exactly how you feel and sometimes I wonder why I ever got into horses - I would have much more time on my hands - have weekends and have more money - cant give up now tho - had horses for over 18 years - its how you live!!!!

I remember once I was out riding in the woods on my own when my horse suddenly reared up - I slide off backwards and so did the saddle - still cant understand how it came off cos none of the girth straps snapped and the girth was as tight as I could get it - anyway he p****d off all the way to the main road and cantered down the pavement bk to the yard (2 miles away)

By the time I'd walked to the road the horse had gone - I found that some mechanics had grabbed hold of him whilst he was flying past their garage and they had already called the poilce cos I was no-where in sight at the time - how embarrassed was I when they turned up and escorted me home!!!!

The horse hasn't done it since but everytime I ride past the garage the mechanics recognise me and laugh!!!!

yes it wasnt a nice site seeing her hurtle to the ground like that, not knowing if she'd broken her neck?

i have often wondered about writing a book...............
just about me and my weird life and the friends i have in it!!!!!:)

but, i'm toooooooooooo busy to even read a book these days,
what with friends falling off horse's and being airlifted to hospital, and my horse not going in horse box, friends having babies when they dont know they are pregnant, and, people moving houses, etc, i've hardly time to think-then its bed time

Hope everyone is well what a shock for your friend ahving a baby wihtout realising bless her as for Maureen hope she is oka nd not seriously hurt or you could be riding Alfie everyday :)
