Hiya geeks,

I got my certificate today for my Diploma in waxing :D :Look_left (chuffed)

Now.....I have done a search, but as far as I can see, everyone has different opinions on what is classed as a Brazillian, Hollywood, Las vegas, Playboy etc etc.

What I'd love is for all you great waxing geeks out there to explain what 'parts' get waxed with each of your treatments? What parts do you include?(might be a bit graphic I know!) - I'm just a bit confused as to what is what. I'm fine with normal bikini waxing - but its the other bits - I'm not sure I could feel that ok with getting THAT close....Client on all fours etc?! - but then again I thought the bikini would be bad and it wasn't at all.

I'm considering taking a 'specialist' waxing course next - just want an idea of what to expect! - and to see if its something that will be in demand - and any horror stories of 'specialist waxing'!

Any help on this will be much appreciated! (and prob giggled at! )

Hi francesXXX

You may find that to do the other types of bikini wax - e.g. brazilian, hollywood etc will need you do the advanced specialist waxing course to satisfy your insurance cover. It isnt one I have done - dont fancy the idea either, but i am sure that these more specialist waxings use the hot wax and not the usual warm wax.

did you cover hot wax on your diploma course? I did the NVQ route and the hot waxing was coverd but not for the more personal waxing which needs another specialist course!

:o

My course covered Warm waxing hun - thats it - thats why I wanted to do the specialist waxing course - It claims to cover all thats needed to do 'Intimate Waxing' ?

So there is a 'specialist' category and an 'Advanced' specialist category? Blimmin eck'! What does each one cover? x

This will vary between each training company so you will need to check with each one.

Hot waxing is a little more tricky to master, but when i had hot waxing done one me it was not as painful on the more sensitive areas. not that i have had the more intimate areas done - that is one bridge too far for me!

I wax as follows:

Modest - just sides and top, non removed fron undercarriage
Brazillian - Strip on top and underneigth
Honeymoon - Strip on top, all hair underneith and round back removed
Hollywood - All hair removed. (dont get many of them!lol)
:D

hiya! its not as bad as u think. when u get going, can be abit fiddly. i've done quite a few hollywoods, just dont be afraid to tell the client how to position and hold herself. we just do normal bikini, brazilian, and hollywood at the salon i work in.
i think las vegas is when they stick rinestones down that area, never heard of playboy. i've heard of stencil bikinis.. i'm sure at christmas we'll have some ppl asking us to wax a xmas tree down there!

Although I am qualified to do all aspects of intimate waxing, I only offer bikini line, as in making things look neat and tidy! I go quite far in if requested to do so, but nothing resembling a Brazilian.

I don't feel comfortable removing hair from right underneath, not because I'm a prude (far from it!) but I think it's because bikini waxing kills me so much, I just think I'm inflicting my worst nightmare on others!

Check with your insurance company, hun - Babtac and The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists both require members to have undertaken additional specialist training before they will insure for intimate/Brazilian waxing, and I imagine other insurance providers may have similar policies. Better to be safe than sorry!

Hi There

I did my brazilian and hollywood training with gigi products which is a hard wax that you dont use strips with, i found it so much less painful than strip wax it was unbelievable!we did have to work on eachother in the training which was a bit nerve wracking but well worth the experience!

well done francesXXX. congrats. i am hoping to get myself enrolled now. wahoo. you can practice on me if you need practice hun.

In my salon, we only have 2 types of bikini waxes. We have the regular Bikini wax, which includes anything outside of the pantyline, although we do go in a bit further if wanted (we just adjust the price), then we have the Brazilian wax, which means completlely bald, back and front, but if they want a "landing strip" left behind, we consider this a brazilian wax as well.

Brazilian waxes are my most popular service. You will hear lots of things about what kind of wax to use.... But honestly, good technique is much more important than what kind of product. I am an esthetician that only uses strip wax, and my clients tell me that I am the fastest and most gentle waxer they have encountered.

Hi Garfield, could you please contact me about your waxing as I need it done desperately and am looking for an appointment asap, my number is 07733967596. x

ive just had a nightmare with a bikini wax!! couldnt get the hairs to come off at all from under pubic bone.. lots loose skin. we did pull tight but :0( i hate it when that happens.. i used warm wax hot wax wouldnt set>>>>> aagghhhhhh ... Harley rose wax

My Brazilian and Hollywood are identical apart from the Brazilian leaves a landing strip on the pubic mound (or whatever shape they prefer).

Aside from that, I remove ALL hair from inside the butt, the buttocks if needed, the inner and outer labia. All gotta go. That's the way I wax and that's the way I teach. xxx

hey just going through brazilian posts. im not trained but i realli want it doing to myself but im just scared. i only wax the top bit myself with hot wax. but im to scared to go further in. and iv decided not to and get a professional to do it. can some explain how they do the undercarriage. its like loose skin (had a baby) so how do you do it, plus im a bit worried about wher they going to place their hands lol. :suprised:

This is pretty much what I do. I work on what the client wants. Most go completely bald front and back - others just have the front done. I just use the one term 'brazilian' to save confusion and ask if the client wants any hair left or completely off.

I dont do brazillians but i have one myself i class a brazillian as a strip left over on the top and a hollywood is everything off including between the buttocks. Ive never had to go on all fours tho! I do everything in the normal waxing pisition one leg straight one bent. Then to do under and between the buttocks i lift my knee towards my chin and i always leave my underware on but i do wear a thong. Hope this helps!

Not really a horror story but i hate hate hate when people book in for a bikini wax an tell u at the time off taking the appointment thats its just for a 'tidy up' then get u into the treatment room and more or less want all off!!!! I could scream at them......
