Good Morning Geeky Ones, I have tried 2 or 3 times to wax my eyebrows and have now given up as I am always left with what appears to be a slight burn below the brow.

Wax temp is fine and I stretch the skin and remove the strip in the correct manner, but am always left with a patch that resembles a fresh graze. I wax eyebrows of other people, including my 15 year old daughter, with no problems at all and a fab clean result each time.

A beauty therapist acquaintance, told me that she has experienced the same problem with waxing eyebrows, and that she feels that for some people, eyebrow waxing is just not suitable ie. it is one of those things you can have done or just can't due to the sensitivity around the eye area.

What is your experience and comments please? Tweezing my eyebrows constantly is a pain !

Hi! Well after reading are you on any medication at all? Because some certain medications especially ones designed to treat skin conditions can sometimes cause the skin to be thinner and more delicate than usual, which could cause your little graze that you are experiencing.
Also do you just go over area once? What wax are you using at the moment? - You maybe having a reaction with the certain type of wax? x

I use the Hive wax strip wax and am not on any medication which could affect my skin. Yes, I only go over the area once.

Do you use oil? Oil will create a barrier for the skin so that the wax will stick to the hairs and not the skin causing the skin less trauma.:)

I have exactly the same problem and have tried everything. It doesn't matter what wax or pre wax products i use, if I do it or someone else does it. It ends up going really dry and flaky after about 3 days.
I think my eyebrows are just not meant for waxing as everywhere else i do is fine.
Try to pluck them whilst sitting in a hot bath. I really find this helps with the pain and you will end up getting used to it, and after a few times you wont even notice it

I think you took me literally about 'it's a pain'. I've been tweezing my eyebrows for years and it doesn't hurt me, it would just be quicker and easier to wax them. I find it a pain having to tweezer them every couple of days in order to keep them neat.

I have to admit that I haven't tried oil. I use pre wax as taught in college. Perhaps I could give the oil a go. I have been meaning to get some.l

Hi, I did my own E/B's Last night and i have the exact same problem. Small red bumps. This never happens to my customers :irked:

Oh ha ha sorry chick, I completely read that wrong didn't I ! xxx

Afternoon all - I too used to have this problem...... then discovered hot wax:) Not a graze/burn mark to be seen! Is great for sensitive areas and as you are applying a pre-wax oil you can go over the same area as many times as required. (Well you can with my wax - Lycon)

Hope this is of interest!

hi, yes I get the exact same thing one of my brow burns just underneath and the other comes out with little red bumps.

When you say oil before waxing could I use my after wax oil???

also if anyone has any good tips on waxing eyebrows I would be gratefull, I will admit brow waxing is my worst treatment im rubbish and cant seem to get them to match :)

I use perron rigot oil but you only need to use a tiny bit. I don't dislike waxing eyebrows but they are my most least favourite things to do! it's easy to get rid of the regrowth-it's brow design. Luckily am doing a course with Kim in a couple of weeks so hopefully get rid of the fear-lol.
Which oil do you have?

Sorry if I'm repeating but I haven't read the other replies.

This may be because your wax is too cool and thick, so when you remove the strip, it tugs at the skin. Also, it could be that you pull the strip from one eye in a slightly less definate way. For example, you know how if you are right handed, you can always paint your left hand much better than when you paint your right hand.

Out of interest, if you are right handed, do you find it's your left eye that grazes (or vice versa?

Also, don't over stretch the skin. Always apply oil. xx

Is there a salon in your area that offers threading? Its really fast, and no grazing!! :-D If you liked it,you could maybe look in2 doing a course in it,it's usually only a one or two day course and by the sounds of it alot of people are suffering the same symptoms , maybe something to think about@

I have this problem with my brows as well. I can wax clients all day long, but when it comes to my own - forget it! Results range from small burns to tiny blisters. (I cannot use eyecreams either, they irritate my eyes). Damn senstive things! lol

I used to get threading done, with great results, it is more suitable for sensitive skin types.

You could try strip sugar wax but it would depend on how strong your brows are to how effective it will be and you will need the tiniest bit of talc just rub a bit over your brow on one finger ...Thing with sugar is that it will not stick to your skin ,its not too picky about how thick you put it on or which wayand there isnt much in it to irritate.Make sure its not too hot and for faces i do find it works better with muslin strips.

Along with all that has already been suggested it could be that because you are waxing your own, you could be removing the strip/wax incorrectly and pulling up into the air rather than parallel with the skin iykwim.

Exactly what i was going to say, I used to use pre wax cleanser but then i realised i was just stripping the skin of oil anyway and like you used to get grazing, so now i use oil on everything im going to wax no grazing and perfect results.

axiom recommends using a tiny bit of oil hun and it really does work, u just gotta be careful that you only use the tiniest bit xxx

Thank you Geeky Ones for your replies. I am going to try again using oil. I am pretty certain it is not my technique although I see your point. It would be so much nicer waxing every couple of weeks as opposed to tweezing the damn things every other day.

I love waxing eyebrows, one of my fave jobs. How sad am I ?
