What grit file to use on a natural nail?

Hi im new to this. I have just started a nail course and i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what grit file u can use on a natural nail.

It would help us to help you if you could fill out you profile a bit more.

I trained with Creative and was taught to never use anything coarser that a 240 grit file on the natural nail. HTH

Different manufacturers do have different guidelines for this - primarily because one companies 240 grit, isn't necessarily the same as another. A lot depends on the material the files are made from too. Some say 240, and yet just as many say 180 grit.

You really would be best checking with your supplier on this.

Hi, i use either 240 kitty file or sahara silk 320 file from odyssey on natural nails x

Use whichever grit won't remove more than the shine, ie a 240, maximum IMO.

If you use anything harsher then you risk removing nailplate.
